G (Gentle - how do they provide comfort?): If you’re seeking comfort from Cassian, then you have to be prepared for the ugly truth: Cassian is not the best when it comes to gentleness. And it isn’t that he’s incapable of being sentimental or caring for the feelings of others – far from it, in fact! Cassian feels everything deeply, it ripples throughout him like a shout into a canyon. However, he’s so used to compartmentalizing and putting his own wants and needs on the back burner that it’s become all too easy in his adult years to just expect the same from others out of habit.

He is a captain of an insurgence group, after all: His entire life has been built upon and consequently led him to a position of clipping the wings of his baser desires and responses. And, unfortunately, he somewhat expects others to do the same. Depending on the circumstances or how stressed he is, he might even be offended if they didn’t!

But that’s of course unfair of him and unreasonable on his part: You can’t just turn off your feelings. What you can do is cool down from them – but you’ll need his help. His in particular because, well, it shouldn’t be unreasonable to want your significant other to offer you comfort of some sort. And to be fair, it’s not unreasonable . . . It is, however, not something you should jump headfirst into if you’re expecting only awkwardness at best.

Cassian is on a bit of a learning curve when it comes to compartmentalizing his captain duties so he can be a more emotionally vulnerable boyfriend to you: He can hug you, but they may be a bit stiff; he can and does enjoy kissing you, but they have to evolve (more on that later); he’s not against cuddling you (especially not after Scarif), but he won’t always know where to put his hands or may not be in the moment as his mind accidentally wanders to mentally constructing strategies for the next mission; and so on.

You may honestly need to be brutally blunt with him and tell him what you need. But mark my words: Once Cassian knows what soothes you, he’s got it committed to memory. If there’s a certain type of soap you enjoy using when the base can spare ‘fresher time, Cassian’s certain to have acquired it for you at some point without anyone figuring out when he had the time to. If there are certain keywords you’d like for him to utter while stroking your back, he’ll recite them, however clumsy it may come off at first (if not in an endearing way).

Honestly, he might stick a little too close to whatever script he’s established for you based on trial-and-error; he’d have to be told that it’s okay to evolve those methods. But once he does, it means more sleeping beneath a blanket of the starry Yavin IV skies for example, or trying to recount more positive and even funny stories from his youth.

It's a work in progress but considering that this is Cassian we’re talking about, it’s the best you could ask for: You force Cassian to better himself and become more vulnerable. And whether he’ll admit it to even himself or not, he appreciates that and is beginning to find some form of comfort in his growing efforts to comfort you as well. After all, feelings don’t stop because of a war; if anything, that’s when we need them the most.

K (Karma - how do they apologize?): Begrudgingly, if you’re lucky enough to get an apology at all. Cassian is, unfortunately, one of those “apologizers” who rarely accepts when he’s in the wrong: He’s spent his whole life being taught that he needed to stand his ground for what he believes in, and it evidently leaked into how he approaches even more delicate subjects. He’s arguably better after spending some time with you but even then, you’re left dealing with a stubborn asshole who, at best, will preface his “apologies” with something along the lines of “I’m sorry you feel that way, but”.

And it drives. You. Insane. Rightfully so! You know you’re the one who’s right here, and you know you see a crack in his resolve; a crack in that aloof expression he wears as a mask of confidence, letting a slip of realization seep through. It’s tiny, it’s barely there, but you know what you see. And it absolutely pisses you off that he’s daring to deny that it’s there!

On average, the closest you may get to him acknowledging this is a crappy un-apology where he claims to be “sorry that your feelings got hurt.” Cue you aiming your blaster at his kneecaps, apologizing that he’s going to hurt period.

Early on in the relationship, he’s more prone to clinging to his anger, insisting that he’s in the right even when he’s on his own. He’s a lot slower to apologize to you but when he does, it’s very stiff. And it’s only after he’s realized just how royally he’s screwed up.

He knows this when you don’t come to bed with him. It’s easy to avoid him around the base because it’s so big and there’s always something to do, but the one thing he could always count on was coming to his cot to find you waiting for him. It wasn’t any different or special from any other Rebellion-issued cot, but you insisted that it was Cassian’s presence and scent that made it comforting for you more than your previous sleeping spot did. But you weren’t there that night. Or the night after. Or the night after. Or the night –

This man understands all kinds of languages, both alien and binary, but hearing his own tongue utter an apology is perhaps one of the most foreign things he’s ever heard. However, the bastard needs that sort of humbling if he wants to genuinely pursue a committed relationship with you. It gets better as time goes on, predominately because the further along the relationship goes, the quicker he tends to realize when he's committed a no-no or opened his mouth just enough to utter some shit-stirring comment about you taking things too seriously.

Flowers don’t always cut it and it’s not as though he can easily take you out to eat somewhere on a credit he doesn’t even really have as a rebel. So all there’s really left – all that you will let him give you, really – is to just. Talk. Quietly, as he often tends to if he doesn’t get fired up. And he’s embarrassed: He acted like such an ass, he made you upset, and, on top of that, it was all for nothing because he was in the wrong! He may not say as much (at least, not in so many words), but he genuinely does feel sorry for how he’s acted.

Like many other things with Cassian, it’s a work in progress. He’s been like this all his life, after all, and it’s unlikely to just disappear over two arguments or disagreements. But for all the hard-headedness your captain gives, the one thing he offers even more of is dedication. And if swallowing his pride to assure your happiness is what he must do to prove his dedication to you, then he’ll do it. Slowly. And with many hiccups that he will work on trying to fix.

Just please: Don’t shoot his kneecaps, no matter how tempting it may be some days.

P (Peace - how do they relax together?): Cassian does not relax. Though, to be fair, nobody on Yavin IV really relaxes. But Cassian, above nearly all others, relaxes the least. This makes his medical leave following the mission on Scarif all the more unwelcome in his eyes: They just stole the plans to the Death Star, turning the tide in their favor after going for so long without hope – he can’t just lie down now! There’s so much to do –

Which can be performed by other non-injured personnel who probably aren’t dealing with the potential aftermath of experiencing a near-death experience, Mothma states. She also states that the medical leave is not a request: It’s an order. To his credit, Cassian does try to play the part of the good soldier, following his superior’s orders. She knows what’s best for him in this moment, he tries to tell himself. And besides, there was only so much insubordination he was willing to do in such a brief period.That being said, there was apparently still room for more.

Despite being prescribed bedrest until his wound and its effects had completely healed, Cassian still managed to try and wriggle his broken self into war rooms to participate in meetings concerning future missions and rendezvous. Mothma was not pleased.

Cut to now, as he’s all but restrained to the bed, only kept there under the threat of penalty if he were to disobey his superior. Even your presence, authorized by Mothma herself to make sure that Cassian didn’t try to escape, didn’t exactly brighten his mood. Don’t get him wrong, he’s quite happy to see you! But he hates that he has to see you under these conditions: Here he is, just lying in a bed, head abuzz with ideas and potential threads that could lead to future successes, all while hundreds upon thousands of innocent people are razed to the ground by the Empire’s ruthless hands.

And on top of that? Being stuck here meant that there was very little to distract him from his other, less passionate thoughts. As much as he hated to let himself accept it, Mothma was right: He nearly died back there, and it rippled through him far deeper than the blaster shot that wounded him had. Sure, he’d risked his life on missions and had closed calls before, but something about this time just felt . . . different.

“You’re thinking too hard. Thinking’s not allowed here,” you joked, snapping him out of his reverie. His lips pressed into a bemused, thin line, but he was thankful. He won’t tell you all his thoughts and feelings yet – he’s not ready to do that. Deep down, he knows that he first needs to go over what even happened. But for now, he’s going to put up a front. Put up a fight.

Cassian’s idea of relaxing, as it turns out, is letting you crawl into the bed with him (“Watch it,” he hisses as you brush up against his sore body. But he doesn’t tell you to get out) and forcing him to listen to you crack corny jokes and stories about your life. And, once he’s relaxed enough, he might return the favor – albeit not the way you’d like.

He’ll prattle on to you about his as of yet to be used plans, the things he wanted to bring to the table that he was briskly removed from. He wants to make sure they sound proper, that there aren’t dramatic flaws that could be explained away by an undiagnosed brain injury. You hum and nod along, but he’s not so convinced: You’re falling asleep after all. But you don’t tell him to stop. You just listen. You listen until his words begin to meld and ooze into one another, ultimately blurring into a white noise that plays in the background of your dreams. Even when he knows you’re out of it, however, Cassian doesn’t stop talking.

However, depending on how comfortable he feels, the subject matter might change: He talks fragments about how he feels, about the mission, about how he was certain he was going to finally be wiped off, how in what he thought would be his last moments he had to grapple with the fact that he wouldn’t see you again . . . Maybe when you’re awake, he’ll tell you all these things. Some day. But for now, he doesn’t mind it if you just “listen” to him. Makes him feel grounded . . .

X (XOXO - how do they kiss?): Before Scarif, Cassian’s kisses were like whispers: Soft, leaving a feathery tingling in their wake due to their careful placement. Almost as though the kisses themselves were fairies. Almost as though he feared kissing you any stronger might cause harm. In fact, that was almost precisely why Cassian kissed you in the manner he did.

He loves you, he truly does, but the Rebellion and the effects of war are constantly pillaging his mind: Is he ready to risk the potential heartbreak that accompanies a romance during wartime? Is he prepared for any potential fallout if the strain of keeping it together becomes too much for the both of you? Is he ready to commit himself to something that could be snuffed out by a stray blaster shot or bomb? As it turns out, yes: He learns this when he’s nearly taken out by a bomb, actually.

What happened on Scarif did a number on everyone involved, but Cassian was perhaps the most jarred of the Rogue One squad. Because whereas the other members found a renewed or realized understanding of both themselves and what they were capable of bringing to the Rebellion, Cassian was left to realize just how much of himself he’d given for the cause. He’d given so much of his life to fighting that he hadn’t really lived. Nearly everything he did was calculated, often made with one thought in mind: How might this help bring down the Empire? Your relationship, of course, wasn’t one of those instances, but how much of it had been morphed and dictated on the basis of these thoughts? He shuddered at the possible answers. It left him with a sickening feeling inside of him: He nearly died, not only leaving you behind, but potentially leaving you behind without you feeling so much love as you deserved to.

And as he laid there in the infirmary, your sleeping form practically buried into his side, it made him almost wish the blast had taken him out as punishment. Almost.

After Scarif, Cassian’s kisses became passionate conversations: They were louder, stronger, longer. They lingered just enough for both parties to catch their breath before returning to where they were. They could illicit gasps, tiny giggles on your part, furrowed brows on his. They left your lips heated even with their separating. You craved more of these passionate conversations.

Hi! Can I get an MCU ship? I'm female, straight, Gemini, INFP-T, I'm 5'4, and I am 21, in my last year of university in communication arts.

Despite my age, my friends say I act like a mom (constantly concerned and worried for friends most of the time) and have the mind of an old lady, I'm an empath and an ambivert but leaning towards introvert. I don't drink alcohol or coffee. (Milk, cocoa, or orange juice is my alcohol lol)

Shy and awkward with ppl I dont know much or ppl I just met but if we click, I am a completely different person, more talkative too, calm and graceful but chaotic if that makes sense XD but I do know when to be serious

I'm kind and patient, very understanding, considerate and thoughtful of others, I have a habit of putting other's priority over mine most of the time, which kind of results in me keeping things to myself a lot and then stress out (but I'm working on it XD) quite emotional too, the type that cries at every sad scene or movie I watch

Helping ppl makes me happy, whether that'd be giving advice or just being there for them or listening, but I will not tolerate those who take advantage of my kindness or disrespect others, esp ppl I care about, I rarely insult ppl, so if I do, that means my patience ran out

My friends say I'm very optimistic and hopeful and they always feel like "they're with a musical character" which I'll take because I love singing! I love music in general and I really love vintage clothing and aesthetics! I also like to read books (mostly fictional, Tolkien books are my fav, esp The Hobbit) watch movies, draw, work out, and just learn random things!

I like learning, I'm more on the theories and philosophical side though, I am very bad at math or anything dealing with calculations and numbers, I also have interest in learning languages, mythology, and astronomy, I love the stars and like to go to planetariums and museums when I have time, I just think the universe is just so fascinating and I just like to have fun in general!

I am an animal lover, and I love kids, very dedicated to playing with my adorable little cousins. I daydream a lot, I love the fantasy genre so my imagination goes wild haha

A Black sheep in the family, and the youngest and only daughter too, so I kind of grew up independently most of the time.

Very much into giving and receiving hugs and amusement parks, I also have quite a sweet tooth, mostly for cookies and brownies, so I love cafes and pastry shops a lot.
