PATIENTLY waiting for the arrival of his sister, he settled on the couch, tea in hand as he looked over the newspaper article. the town event had been what a few months, weeks ago, he lost count. ah, he doesn’t care. “I forget how punctual you are.” his tone laced with sarcasm, they both knew that she arrived on her own time. “fancy the mirror too long, you may have to do some more research in setting a record.”

What That Amounted To: THREE chapters today instead of my regular two
Total Word Count: 20,974 Goal for Today: 20,000
How I Feel: Like I’ve pulled a tooth. The chapter that actually got me to 20K was so hard to write, I hated it. It was so slow, but it was a necessary transition chapter. And it also got me to the chapter that I really wanted to write (most of which can be found under a cut here), so that felt nice.

“Ashlyn,” he greets me in relief.
“That’s not my name,” I remind him. This is off to a great start already.
“Ash, then,” he complies. “I wanted to tell you that I was sorry.”
“It’s a bit late for that, isn’t it?” I snap. “It’s been months!”
“I know,” he says, “and I’ve had months to think.”
“Oh, and I suppose you’ve come to realize that the Barbie doll you were with is fake and shallow, and that I was much better, and now you want me back?” I ask sarcastically.
“Well, when you put it like that...” he mutters.
“It sounds stupid, you’re right,” I confirm.
