The Dark Kingdom was the only group of villains in the whole series to not have any female commanders. Although it could be argued that Queen Beryl’s own youma Thetis and the D.D. Girls had comparable positions.
Like other villainous organizations, the Dark Kingdom had members that were not inherently evil. The Shitennou and Dark Prince Endymion were all converted at one point in the Dark Kingdom’s history. Queen Beryl was said to be a normal human before joining Metalia, but her contempt for beings from the Moon may have predated her allegiance. This aspect of her origin varies depending on the adaptation.
Many of the antagonists in the first anime reformed by being encouraged or magically purged by Sailor Moon. Nephrite, however, did so without any direct assistance from the Sailor Senshi.
Sailor V’s enemy in her own manga worked for a branch of the Dark Kingdom called the Dark Agency.
The Dark Kingdom is the only evil organization to have appeared in all media based on the manga: both anime series, the live-action drama, video games, and the musicals.
Their central headquarters was located at D-Point in the North Pole.
