Poorly Drawn Iliad: Book 1

#poorly drawn illiad #the illiad #achilles #thetis #In which Achilles literally goes crying to mummy about how the other boys were mean to him.#And then book two opens with Zeus giving Agamemnon bad dreams.#They were not lying. This book is very funny.#I don't know very much about the Illiad - but I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say the real 'Achilles heel' is 'Pride'.#One may ask If I plan to do all the books and the honest answer is:#Right now where it's just me + my sketchbook + an antique copy of the illiad + a lot of travel delays...#making silly comics might be the one thing keeping me sane right now.#It also helps to come up with silly comics to try and summarize what's going on.#I am reading the F.L Lucas translation so it's a mental work out. And rapidly ruining my day-to-day vocabulary.#I'm going to sound like a medieval knight by the end of the week.

And Thetis, in tears, said to him:

#book 18 #book 19 #thetis #patroclus #hephaestus #happy belated mothers day with this one #yes i know thetis promises to keep him from rotting #and pours nectar into his nose to keep his flesh fresh #but that does come after she brings achilles’ armor at dawn of the next day #he has already been dead for almost 24 hours #by this time he is in rigor and his body discolored most likely #the body does begin bloating 24 hours in #you just dont really see it completely bloat until like 3-5 days #because at that point the decomposition starts #so really she is kind of just putting him on ice at the very beginning of the process. so he could be slightly bloated #and just not going beyond that point #all this to defend my adjective choice here lol #greatest hits
