Cockles Con Roundup (CharCon 2021)

🐚 They were smiling and laughing during photo ops

🐚 Misha went cockles completely unprompted by saying he wanted to hear from Jensen in their WEDDING VOWS that he'd obey him (and did that in Jensen's voice. HORNY JAIL, MISH *bonk*)

🐚 TWO whole ass instances of clothes sharing (the denim shirt and the Dean jacket)

🐚 At one of the photo ops on Saturday Jensen pushed Misha's head down to make him kneel

🐚 Cockles were seen walking with their handlers

🐚 In their Sunday photo ops, Jensen was draping himself over Misha unprompted

🐚 When presented with a Destiel fanbook (full of drawings of Destiel hugs, kisses, etc.) at autos, Jensen flipped through it. The fan told him where to get prints and he was like "Why? I live it" 👀

🐚 Jensen also called a realistic drawing of Dean and Cas kissing a "paparazzi shot"

🐚 Misha left unplanned after the Mishalecki ops and then Misha and Jensen arrived 20 mins late together to their ops hmmmm (source: x)

Just a few highlights of CharCon 2021 so far:

DJ Qualls telling the story of the writers asking if he knew how to dance (for the tap scene with Jensen): “Yeah, I can dance. A little. I can throw down. But not choreography. You can’t grow up gay in the South and also do choreography. I wouldn’t have survived!”

DJ Qualls complaining about Jensen. “He’s amazing at everything. It sucks.”

Tahmoh being so incredibly sincere about loving the fandom. “This is something special. I’ve been in fandoms, in sci-fi, for many years, but the Supernatural fandom is so loyal, so wonderful.”

Tahmoh responding to my question about why every actor who has ever worked with him says he’s amazing: “I’m just such a great actor that they think I’m nice. I’m actually a horrible person.” 😂

Tahmoh just gushing about Battlestar colleagues, and saying he thinks Dollhouse deserved better. He says Gadreel on SPN was a wounded soldier with PTSD, having been imprisoned for so long, and wanting so badly to do the right thing, but not being right in the head and also needing the orders of a commander, he was led astray, and did horrible things.

Adam Fergus actually gave real thought to how Mick would ask Castiel out. “He’d do it right, by taking him aside, asking him to dinner, very nice. And he’s already got my number. I gave him my card.”

Adam blaming David H-J every time Mick’s death came up. David apologizing for killing him. Apparently David read the script first and texted Adam to apologize before Adam even read about Mick’s murder.

David H-J explaining that he adopted a headcanon that Arthur Ketch actually DID have a twin brother Alex, who was his “best mate” at Kendricks, and Arthur had to kill him in the 12 year old Kendricks trial, which speaks to Ketch’s socio/psychopathic nature. “What’s that do to you? If you kill a piece of yourself like that?”

David stating that he went in to Ketch with a “Cockney bruiser motorcycle jacket” personality, but the director told him they wanted Ketch to be more of a monster version of Bond.

David referring to something as “the AO3 way of looking at it.” David definitely reads fanfic. He’s seen every episode of SPN. Sometimes he pretends like he’s not sure, but he totally knows the show.

David wants Ketch to be Rowena’s manservant in Hell. Adam wants to get a few pints with Ketch and chat it out in the Roadhouse in Heaven, and be “the bigger man” about Ketch having killed him. The original script apparently included both of them sitting in Dean’s Roadhouse Heaven, which surprised both actors when they heard it, but they were happy about that.

Ruth stating that Rowena would take Castiel and give him a makeover and put him in her red evening gown, “and he would like it.”

Sam Smith smiling every time someone told her happy birthday. Super sweet. She says she had to take private Krav Maga lessons when Mary came back, and she was terrible at them.

Sam says she modeled a lot of what she was doing with Mary after Jensen’s mannerisms, because she thought it would be genetic to some degree, and was delighted when the writers and crew (and Jensen), then the fans, picked up on it.

Kim Rhodes says she is happy to adopt all of us. She is embracing her mom role. She also says she’s been sober 7 years.

Kim says she would want to “body swap” Mark’s Lucifer, because Lucifer would be fun to play, and also she wanted to see Pellegrino have to play Jody.

Kim lamented the loss of Wayward, saying she truly believes it could have had the canon queer characters and other diversity we all need. She wanted it to be like Hogwarts for hunters, and have Mary Winchester come and teach a class, along with people like Benny Lafitte and Garth.

DJ interrupting the panel with Ruth and Sam to ask them what it’s like being so beautiful and also do they want some tacos for lunch.

Jake Abel going to town on cowbells and shakers with David and Adam during Friday Night Special (switched from Saturday this coming).

Julian Richings and JV P acting out for us what it would look like if Death and Asmodeus ever met.

Rob Benedict bitching about how both Richard Speight and Matt Cohen had bailed on him for this con and he was hosting solo.

Rob kind of gushing over Ruthie, and suggesting she would make a great God.

Ruthie promising she would smite people for Rob and also for Sam Smith.

Misha stopping the autograph line to give me trivia about the photo from a magazine I had asked him to sign. “That photographer was just very cool!” He told me about how they took the photo. I stared like a deer in headlights and maybe possibly remembered to say thank you.

Misha joking about being a NYT best seller being a pain in the ass because now he has to change all his business cards.

Misha stating that while he had fun as Casifer, his favorite Castiel is still “regular, evolving Cas.” He would have liked a Cas-centric episode to explore the “existential loneliness of Castiel” due to him being rejected by Heaven and never accepted by humanity, made especially tragic by the fact that he was so loyal to Heaven and felt such love and duty for humanity.

Misha prompted an AU situation for fanfic writers when asked: “Dean is a custodian, for a fast food restaurant. And Castiel is president of the United States.”

Misha said his ideas for Random Acts and GISH were inspired by the creativity of the fandom, and his desire to channel it into the fight for good in the world, including just inspiring one another to keep creating art.

DJ talking about living with Ty Olssen and ghosting Jared while in Vancouver. “Jared Padalecki keeps coming in asking about you. Yeah, tell him I’m not around! I’m working! I’m busy! I don’t play on school nights!”
