for everyone in the southern hemisphere, the full moon is on its way next week on thursday 2 april

this weekend i will be gathering my crystals, so that i can transport them all easily outside to be directly under the full moon to recharge

the day of the full moon i will be also putting out my moon water to recharge it

and, i will also fill a new jar of water and get me some more of that good moon water

Great question, apologies for the late reply!

Cleanse:

Cleansing and 'resetting' the energy of your crystals is a great place to start.

Spiritually and energetically cleansing can be done in many ways! My favorite for cleansing/resetting the energy of crystals is to bury them in salt! The type of salt doesn't matter, you can do this by placing them on top of a pile of salt as well.

Salt is powerfully cleansing of energies. In some ways, it does the work for you! Intention is always going to be your best friend when working with energy though.

Water is another great tool for cleansing, but make sure you research if your crystals are water safe! Water and salt are both highly suggestable, meaning what you tell them to do, they will do.

A very common and fast method of cleansing is smoke! Incense, herbs, you name it. Be fire safe of course! You can run your crystals through the smoke much like you'd submerge them in water or salt.

Speak your intentions to your tools, tell them that they are here to cleanse and create a blank canvas of energy within the crystal.

Crystals carry energies. Cleansing ensures they will not be overloaded with information.

To Charge and Set Intention:

Setting your intentions with crystals can be as easy as sitting with them and pouring energy into them through your hands. Intention is the key word here. You must have it, and clearly!

Say you'd like to charge a piece of rose quartz with the energy of self love. Get clear in your mind what it is that self love means to you. Focus on that feeling, communicating to your rose quartz that it is your intention to charge it with this energy. Sometimes envisioning light pouring from you, or the universe, into the crystal can feel powerful and effective. This part is truly unique to you, as is most of witchcraft!

As long as you have a powerful intention, the means of charging a crystal with that intention as endless. Some people prefer to leave them to charge under the sun or moon, some people incorporate aspects of nature into their rituals, and some people will simply look at the crystal and say, "hey! You're here for xyz. Thanks!"

It's as simple or as complex as you care to make it. Intention is everything! Do what feels right.

How to (Affordably) Use Selenite to Cleanse and Charge Other Crystals

Let's start this post off with a little definition of the two terms, charging and cleansing.

Cleansing is the removal of negative or unwanted energies from an object, in this case crystals. Charging is enhancing or activating the energy of crystals and/or adding intention to them. Some people believe this is b.s. and that crystals don't need to be charged, that is up to you to decide what you believe about this.

So how do you cleanse or charge your crystals without breaking the bank? Even though selenite is a very affordable crystal, Sometimes you'll see aesthetic social media posts of crystals charging in beautiful selenite bowls which is lovely but can be pricey. To get the same effect, simply take any piece of selenite you have, select the crystals you wish to work with. And place them in a bowl, on a plate, or wherever. Just make sure they are close to the selenite and that's it, you're done, no fancy crystal bowl needed. I have also heard some people say that a crystal only needs to be within three feet of an object to affect it, once again, that is for you to decide whether that works for you or not.

Note: I know there are other ways of cleansing and charging, this is not me saying any of those ways are wrong, this is just one way.

Charging crystals ✧̣̇˳·˖✶

I decided to write down how I energize my crystals – it’s pretty simple and I think most witches use this method (or a variation of it).

Cleansing rituals ✧̣̇˳·˖✶

Before energizing a crystal, it has to go through a proper cleansing to purify it of any external energy that might be attached to it. There’s several ways to do that, which include:

✶ Bathe it in the sunlight or moonlight for as long as needed. It depends on many factors, so I suggest you just take as long as you feel is necessary. For example, I live in a very hot, tropical city, so only a few hours of sunbathing is enough to cleanse my crystals; meanwhile, the city lights outshine the moonlight on most nights, so it’d take more than a night for me. –> Edit: google if it’s safe for your crystal to be under sunlight, some can lose their color or even become brittle after some hours of exposure (crystals that don’t fade under sunlight include howlite, lapis lazuli, jade, labradorite, black onyx, black obsidian, sunstone, turmaline and rose quartz; any other crystal should be researched before applying this method).

✶ Bury it in coarse salt for 1-3 days. -> Don’t use this method for rocks that have iron in their composition (like hematite, pyrite, anything that ends with “ite”) cause they’ll rust.

✶ Bury it on the ground around nature for about a week.

✶ Burn cleansing incense or herbs around it. Not my favorite method cause I find it tricky to properly target the crystal with the smoke; I usually burn a palo santo next to the crystals inside a clay pot, with the lid almost fully closed, and hope the fire won’t die out (it works like, half the time)

✶ Bathe it in a body of water. -> Don’t use ocean water for rocks that have iron in their composition, since it’s salty!

Energizing spell ✧̣̇˳·˖✶

This isn’t necessary for crystals to work their purpose, but it helps focusing their energy on your goal. I think of it like a magnifying glass effect; the spell is supposed to channel your crystal’s power into your intentions.

✶ Hold the crystal with both hands, and close your eyes. Breathe in and out 3 times, concentrating on what you hope to achieve.

✶ Visualize yourself with your hopes already met; how will your life look like when you achieve your goal? For instance, if you’re charging a blue apatite that’ll help you with the intellectual focus you feel you’re currently lacking, picture yourself being like that on your everyday life. How will that feel like? Words have power; if you’re comfortable with it, you might want to chant a simple sentence, like “this apatite will stimulate my intellect”, for example.

✶ Now visualize a glowing light emanating from the palm of your hands, surrounding the crystal. This light is your energy, charged with your intentions. Picture the crystal absorbing it. If you’re saying the spell out loud, imagine your words are becoming a flow of energy, directing itself towards the rock and being absorbed too.
