Charis, did you have to come out to your family? How did they react?
“Well, I told my parents how I felt about my gender when I was really little. Can’t say they were surprised, by the looks of it. They knew I was different from day one. If I had to guess, to them, this must’ve been like…a new kind of different. Mom was more worried than anything else, which was annoying at the time. But she had every right to be. Dad helped me see that.”
“I told Gramps and Hestia when I was a bit older and had a better understanding of it. Gramps was…well, Gramps about it. He joked that I was using my gender as an excuse to get out of doing physical labour (whatever that means). I’m not sure if he fully understood my explanation like Hestia, since he asked way less questions than she did, but they were both cool with it anyway.”
“Even though I’ve been through a lot since then, I’m glad they were all looking out for me early on. I don’t think I could’ve ever been me without their support.”
