Chara: Frisk, you have reset thousands of times now. No, I do not think I am exaggerating; it has to be at least a couple thousand. Why do you keep resetting? Why do you keep sending everyone back under Mt. Ebott? You have seen everything there is to be seen. You have done all there is to do. So . . . why?
Frisk: I haven’t done everything yet, Chara.
Frisk: I haven’t saved you!
Frisk: No matter what I do or how hard I try, I can’t save you, Chara. I can save everyone else, but I can’t save you. And it’s not fair! You guided me through the Underground. You showed me there was a way to get to the end without hurting anyone. More importantly, you saved Asriel. Without you, I never would have gotten past him. I couldn’t have done any of it without you, and the worst part is a lot of people think you’re the villain.
Frisk: No matter what, you remain only a ghost that I can see. Nobody else knows that you’re here. I want to bring you back, Chara. I want you to have the second chance of life that you deserve. That’s why I keep resetting. Maybe, just maybe, there’s a way I can help. Perhaps if I complete the perfect timeline, maybe I can bring you back too.
Frisk: There. Now you know.
Chara: Frisk, you’re such an idiot.
Chara: You did save me. Before you fell, I was a restless spirit, trapped in a never ending nightmare of the things I done and all the ways I failed my family. Then you fell on my grave, and you determination brought me back to life . . . I will admit it, at first I thought following you around was further punishment for my sins, but in reality, it was my chance to set things right. I could no longer correct my mistakes, but I could guide you to do it for me.
Chara: Frisk, you will never understand how your friendship over the years has impacted me. I thought humans were cruel and they deserved to die, but you taught me that some humans can be kind. You helped free everyone, even if more times than necessary, haha. I understand why you keep resetting, but it is time you let me go. With the barrier broken, I can finally be at peace. With your friendship erasing all the hate I used to feel for humanity and myself, I no longer have to return to the hellish landscape I created for myself in death. I am saved, Frisk, even if not in the way you prefer.
Frisk: But Chara, I’ll miss you.
Chara: And I you, but you cannot keep dragging everyone back Underground for my sake. Live you life. Let them live theirs. I gave mine up a long time ago, but you still have one. It’s okay to say goodbye. Sooner or later, we will all have to move on.
Frisk: I wish things never had to change.
Chara: Change can be good. Who knows? Maybe on day, in another life, we will meet again. That would be nice, would it not?
Frisk: If we’re both alive, I think it would be great.
Chara: Then it is time to let go and let the future come. Until we meet again, I will eagerly await that day.
Frisk: Me too. Goodbye, Chara.
Chara: Goodbye, Frisk. Oh, and one more thing?
Chara: Take care of Asriel for me.
