it is so cute seeing girlhood always exist throughout history to now

george iii's favourite daughter, princess amelia, was deeply in love with charles fitzroy (she was not allowed to marry him.) but regardless she would write her name sometimes as amelia fitzroy, or initials afr, because she considered herself his wife

it's reminiscent of girls writing their names along with their crushes surnames, its so wholesome seeing this has always been a thing!!

on another note: i feel so bad for princess amelia. poor girl ;;

Fun fact I've recently realized. When Prince William takes the throne someday, presumably as William V, it means that a direct descendant of the Merry Monarch Himself, Charles II, will be the King of England.

Through his mother Diana, William is actually descended from two of the bastard sons of Charles, Henry Fitzroy and Charles Lennox.

Specifically, Charles is William's great X9 Grandfather through Henry Fitzroy:

Charles II -> Henry Fitzroy -> Charles Fitzroy -> Isabella Seymour-Conway -> Hugh Seymour -> Horace Seymour -> Adelaide Spencer -> Charles Spencer -> Albert Spencer -> John Spencer -> Princess Diana -> Prince William

Papa has given me most certain news of my arrival to Weymouth, I shall accordingly leave on the 16th of this month-my own brother's birthday! He has planned to keep me there for a good four days or until my knee is in 'working order'. I have not been informed of any of my dear sisterhood joining me- as I am quite aware dearest Sophy is currently stationed there, The King has informed me not to become 'too excited' as it shall impact my health most certainly, therefore I think it highly unlikely I shall be permitted to see or hear the sweet voices of my fellow sisters. I went as far as to offer Brighton to father, I hardly see much comparison between the two yet I am not permitted, I was warned 'Weymouth or Windsor' quite obviously I shall not reside at Windsor of all places with such rotten health, father's point was quite clear. However one good thing must come from this as I have said before I say again! I am to be escorted and watched over by Colonel Fitzroy! He is to see to my every need and indeed accompany my walks and trips to the sea, we all hold the upmost faith and trust in the man!! I am sure this shall even end as a welcome escape... for the two of us....
