Charles is the middle of the three Rhodes triplets, born and raised by a pair of law enforcement agents, Chief of Police Booker Rhodes, and FBUI Agent Rose Williams. He grew up glued to his dad's side, being his little deputy from the beginning, and tried to act just like him. Everyone in the family looked up to Booker, and if that's what people like, that what he was gonna try and act like. And, as he grew up, he started hearing about how the family use to be bigger, leading him to want to help the pack succeed.
This came back to 'bite' him later on, when it started becoming obvious that out of the triplets, Charles was likely going to be the next pack leader. He's not the oldest out of them, and despite how much he wants to see things get better for the family, he hardly thinks he's the best choice. Charles can't measure up to Booker, and he doesn't want to let the family down. So he ended up pushing back against Booker and the idea of being in charge.
He ended up deciding against his childhood dream of joining the police force, deciding to do instead join a private investigator agency that focused on working with a group trying to overturn wrongful convictions. It was for two reasons: one, he was avoiding following in Booker's footsteps, and two, he is still helping people and making sure the law is enforced. Only he's making sure it's enforced the right way, and no one is serving time for a crime they didn't commit. The job keeps him busy, and he regularly ends up travelling because of it. He won't admit it, but he's hoping that the fact he's away from the family will mean his dad will see that Ryerson or Emile is better than him.
Currently, he lives in Shafter, Texas, with the rest of his family and a bloodhound named Sausage. From time to time, he ends up travelling to work on cases that the agency asks him to. He's still starting out, and because of such usually is working with other PI's at the agency.
