niche form of rage that is just about film adaptations giving characters less cool powers. I'm looking directly at what they did to Charles from the darkest minds and Emma from miss peregrine's. he had TELEKINESIS and she had PYROKINESIS and they gave them "smart boy" and "floaty girl".

i honestly don't understand why people don't know/like the darkest minds. the story is great, so are the characters. the first book came out around the height of the dystopian genre. and yet no one knows it?? and then they made a movie which sucked

OHHH MY GODDD GEORGEEEE IM SO SORRY FOR BEING AWAY FOR SO LONG 😭😭😭 but i need to tell you about the ABSOLUTE TDM FEAST my friends gave me for my bday... sharing because i think we all need tdm food and also because i love my friends sm and also i want to feed u too!!! they jumped me... aka, made me cry from happiness. (no, literally, i cried so much) they bought a physical copy of tdm, read it all, and left annotations of their thoughts everywhere. here are some of my favs (spoilers for anyone else that hasn't read the first book):

aside from that, one of them also left voice notes analyzing the book and then two annotated the whole freaking movie. IM SO HAPPY!!! there are multiple playlists too!!!

the most hilarious thing about the darkest minds movie is that their eyes light up with the color of their abilities whenever they use them; and in the movie chubs is green and sometimes his eyes turn green whenever he just like formulates a thought

like for example this is towards the end when psfs come storming east river and clancy is clearly cooperating with them

i love this because what the filmmakers are implying is that chubs needs his superhuman ability in order to draw the conclusion that clancy is helping the soldiers when it is so blatantly obvious in this scene but thank you green chubs for clearing this up i love the darkest minds movie

Opinion: Ruby and Chubs in The Darkest Minds

This is my absolute favourite book series and I think it should be talked about more because its one of the more interesting, deeper YA dystopians.

Anyhoo I love Ruby and Chubs friendship, and I think it needs to be talked about more. My favourite trope is enemies to BFFs as you all know and Ruby and Chubs kind of follow that story. In the beginning obviously Chubs feels threatened by Ruby's presence but they both grow to quickly understand each other and I adore that scene in the walmart when both of them realise that the radio station shows where east river is and they are talking about their fears and stuff.

But it gets better in east river where they kind of bond, both being quiet and more reserved towards people. Chubs trusts Ruby who in turn trusts him. Ruby admits that she understands Chubs in a way that Zu and Liam, both extroverts, don't. When they reunite in Never Fade its so fricking wholesome and I love that and also when Ruby kind of gives Chubs the motherly talk when he finishes "building shelves" with Vida. I just love them and they're my BROTP for sure. They understand each other in a way not even the rest of the gang do.
