Happy Birthday to former Cleveland Indians and Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel. Manuel played six seasons in the Majors with the Minnesota Twins from 1969-1972 and the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1974-1975. What I didn't know is that Manuel played in the Nippon Professional Baseball League in Japan for six seasons with the Yakult Swallows from 1976-1978/1981 and the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes in 1979-1980. In 1980, Manuel hit a career best 48 homers for Osaka Kintetsu while driving in 129 RBIs. In total, Manuel hit 189 homers in six seasons in Japan.
