What is BATPANDANII??

Oh man, I’m not even sure where to find it? It was a little bit ago, so I can’t recall if I even tagged anything or not. It was something I think clearly meant as a for-fun sort of post, I don’t think the OP meant for it to actually become like a contested THING for folks. Even though there’s the LGBTQIAP acronym, most people still tend to overlook… basically everything that isn’t the L or the G. So the idea of the BATPANDANII was to be more of an acronym for the ignored and often erased folks in the larger MOGAI community. I can’t remember what each letter stood for, tho, or why this became like a THING that people even outside of the FR community starting arguing about. I think it was also supposed to be cute.

I think the acronym is cute if a bit long and I certainly understand why they wanted their own acronym, since there’s a shit-ton of gatekeeping in the community. (Full disclosure, I’m not part of the MOGAI community. I’m a cis, heterosexual, heteroromantic woman. So I can’t comment as directly as people who are in the community could.) I think it’s largely harmless and don’t see why so many got angry over it.
