y'all. the hive is lonely. they feel some kind of loss, something missing. they are desperate for something new.

carol admitted she likes them. they talked openly about manipulation, their motives & goals & emotions & desires. carol was going to say 'someone has to fix things, even if she has to be alone, even if they have to leave her again.'

they want to understand carol and they were moved by her emotion. they know she's suffering and they wanted to make her feel better. it was from love.

but i really think they also want that human connection. and it's something they can't have anymore within the hivemind. not in a way that's special or unique anymore. the only way they can experience anything new anymore is with the individuals.

by the end of the episode zosia/the hive is trying much harder to use "i" when talking to carol. they're pulling zosia's memories specifically, remembering the individual person zosia was. and finally FINALLY told carol that manousos was going to be visiting. it kills me that they waited until he was getting close. the healthy, honest love would have been to tell her in that moment earlier, instead of kissing her. maybe. but kissing her was so real & human.

i just think there is this desperation for connection, something that's missing that they don't understand. and carol painted that message out of desperation but also with a mission and still got swept up. because she was alone for 40 days and she misses helen and the whole world is gone. so much is wrong and how is she supposed to fix this?
