Just out of sheer curiosity Henry Bowers always brought up Chase around Gwen just to get under her skin (still hate him for that) . My question is...how did he know that she liked him? Was it because he observed Gwen a lot throughout his high school years and put two and two together when he saw her interacting with Chase or was it just really obvious that she liked him and couldn't hide it really well?

She was pretty obvious with her feelings towards Chase 😅 No matter what she says otherwise. Basically everyone knew how she felt towards him. Richie, Henry, Victor, and etc. except for Chase. When he did realize she liked him he asked her out....and we all know what happened after that.

At what point did Henry start to think of Gwen in THAT way? You mentioned in a few chapters that as far as Gwen remembered Henry always used to pick on her. Was that his ridiculous way of showing that he was interested? Or did he see her in a different light a little bit later (more precisely the second she hit puberty)? I'm also curious to know how his first rejection went. Was he creepily suggestive or was he subtly implying that he was attracted to her for fear of getting rejected by her?

Gwen (like Beverly) developed fairly early. I’d say she really started to blossom once entering middle school. That’s when the guys at school started to notice her besides her ADHD and her talkative like ways. Henry and Patrick being the main ones that noticed the physical changes about her. 

Before she hit puberty, Henry didn’t think of Gwen in any way except just that she was another one of his victims to bully. Like Richie, Gwen’s loud mouth caught Henry’s attention. However, once he saw that she was changing, Henry started to see her in a different light. Not necessarily a better one because he still bullied her, the only difference was that he started saying very suggestive things to her. So yeah he was creepily suggestive towards her, and when he tried making a pass at her, Gwen basically yelled at him when she said no and told him to get lost. 

And we all know what her rejection led Henry to do. 

I also want to say that the only guys who really liked Gwen for Gwen and not just for her physical appearance, were Chase (and sadly we know what happened to him), Stan (he liked her way before she blossomed), and Eddie who had a crush on her because she treated him more as an equal than someone fragile.

"Gwen!"

Already feeling her cheeks turn pink and a smile work on her lips, Gwen turned towards where she heard this beautiful voice. She inwardly let out a heartfelt sigh when she saw him coming her way. She bet if she were in a cartoon, her eyes would have turned into hearts from looking at him.
