Well there was many things that were true, top of the list was how much he loved his husband. That hadn’t changed, and he didn’t think it ever could. But it wasn’t like he had just been waiting before he had met him. Seeing Chase he smiled to himself, well there was one such man, even if he had only ever told him half the story and then been kind of an arse afterwards. He wasn’t sure if the man even remembered, but with five years in captivity, there was a lot he had been forced to remember. “Hey man, can I buy you a drink. Not a proposition, don’t worry. Killian had been on the receiving end of a lot of strange looks that day. He knew it was because in the past he had carried vodka around in a water bottle, but he was at least just trying to not be so self-destructive. Of course now it was water, but he didn’t feel like pointing that out to people now. Whatever he was doing to change his life, it was his business, not anyone elses. “You gonna tell me to sober up again?” he asked when he saw Chase. What is your favorite dish? Can you prepare it? Do you have the recipe handy?

“Do I look like I can cook?” he asked. He could, not well or anything to brag about, but enough to keep himself alive. “My favourite is pizza, so obviously not. Just tend to get a takeaway, or a frozen one. Seriously? Who the fuck cooks it from fresh these days? More effort and money then it’s worth”.

What is the biggest and most important goal you have set for yourself?

“Making the Guesthouse a success I suppose” that would be the one he would say aloud to people. The reality was, his only goal right now was to live. Not survive, that was easy enough, but he wanted to enjoy his life, and make the right choices. He just knew to get to that stage he had a lot of difficult ones to make first. Nothing worth it was easy, he knew that.

What is one thing you are justly proud of?

“My kids. Justly or not” but they were the only thing he would ever be proud of. He loved them, more than he could ever put into words.
