What had he done to have to change his name? Griffin’s concerns were mounting, but they weren’t concerns for himself- they were for Killian. Griffin was not an outwardly emotional person, but he could easily recall the worry that knotted in his stomach on the mornings he awoke to find Liam had left to do work. He had always been very conscious of the fact that Liam’s work was dangerous.
It was a relief to hear that Killian wasn’t working in that field anymore. When he spoke those words there was a visible relaxation that passed over Griffin. His shoulders fell like a guitar string being loosened. Tension slipped away and he was left looking at Killian with genuine openness in his eyes. “A bar…” Griffin smiled a little. “That sounds more my speed.” Was it too obvious of a self-invitation? Maybe the time for subtlety had passed. “Maybe,.” He started after a second’s silence. “I should come by some time.” His posture straightened up a bit. “It would be nice to see what you’ve been up to.”
Honestly, there was still a lot he wanted to say that he knew he couldn’t. Maybe at some point he would, but this all seemed like too much to tell him in one go. Least Griffin finally knew the truth about what had happened all those years ago. He’d do more, get the truth finally out there about all of it one day, but this wasn’t the right time.
Even seeing the change in the man’s posture seemed to be getting to him. He had never wanted to hurt him, but back then... there hadn’t been anything else he could have done. “You should... Legends” he agreed, even if part of him knew it was a bad idea. With what he had done... with his own emotional state. He couldn’t read more into this then what it was. “I’m almost always in there” he had to be. Work was work, nothing was more important than that right now... if only because it was the only thing he had, other than Willow.
