Team X: M#1: Chatango [Cuckoos, Emma, Logan, Scott, Tony]
[[OOC Context: Idea for the mission was this enclosed space for example a gymnasium -which idk if it makes sense for summer camp but- where the entrances are sealed, wired with some sort of bomb, kids inside, enemies with metal helmets or something immune to telepathy and carrying guns. Telepaths have linked--Emma feeding off the Cuckoos--everyone]]
Scott: Scott was breathing heavily, crouched on the roof of the gymnasium. Below, more militants were patrolling the outer edge, packing guns, vests helmets, more gear than they've been dealing with so far. He looked over the rest of the team, "Everyone still in piece? -Tony. How many of them are down there?"
Emma: Emma fought the eye roll. As far as she could tell everyone was still functioning. "For now.." Emma muttered more to herself than in answer to him. She'd signed up for this heroism. Breathing a bit irregular as she waiting for Tony to confirm.
Cuckoos: "You would probably notice if we'd up and died en route," Esme muttered. "/Probably./"
Logan: "I could distract 'em. Let 'em waste all their bullets on me, then you guys swoop in and save the day," Logan suggested.
Scott: "We'll avoid them if we can. Warn us if they try anything. Can you get bring up the scans on the inside?". Scott shook his head, "Too risky. I want to avoid using you as a meat skewer if I can help it." Turning to the telepaths "Can you get a read on who's inside the gym?"
Logan: "Aren't 'cha jus' sweet," Logan told Scott as he looked around from the rooftop.
Scott: "-Not ruling it out either"
Tony: "Workin' on it," he muttered, leaning back against the van. "There are our guys! lovely people," he said after a few moments. "You're gonna love it, Bummers. Two at the entrance, other two at the back door. Five scattered around the place. All armed, of course. God bless CCTV." He rambled.
Emma: let's save that for plan b, shall we?" Emma sighed and finished for tony "And ten to twelve terribly scared children. Wonderful."
Logan: "Boy's gettin' off from his tech, might wanna calm down there, baby Stark." Logan reckoned.
Cuckoos: "The interference is odd," Sophie added, holding her hands to her temples. "Only on the hostage takers, it's not an area effect or targeting us. We can keep the hostages calm."
Scott: "Great. On your own time Stark. We're not doing anything until we can see what's going on inside. Ladies, can you show us show us what the kids are seeing?"
Cuckoos: The Cuckoos tilted their heads back slightly as they opened their link, giving the non-telepaths a look through the eyes of the children. The perspective of so many frightened minds at once was a rush for the five of them, but for the others they filtered it down, trying to give Scott a look in at the room.
Logan: Logan: "The kids a'right?" Logan asked curiously, not being able to see through whatever link they were using. "Tellin' ya, my distraction idea is still an idea."
Emma: "Shhh" Emma shushed watching the room carefully through her own filtered perspective.."They don't..look injured. Yet. Just scared. We can't just..bust in through the door, Logan."
Logan: "I told ya, we can. They only got so much ammunition, yeah?" Logan guessed. "I can't die, no matter how many bullets they get in me. I'm yer every day cap shield."
Tony: "But they can kill the kids, dumbass." Tony commented with a roll of his eyes.
Emma: "You want to use those kids to fight the strong and heavily armed people holding them captive?"
Cuckoos: "He might mean engineering a disease. That could have consequences, though," the Cuckoos said, still halfway to a trance state as they maintained their link with the children inside.
Scott: "Those soldiers are armed to the teeth with no trigger dicipline. We break in kids start dying. No not fight, but find a way in. Get the helmet off one guard. Then go from there."
Logan: "We can make some noise, get one guard off his normal route and knock the damn helmet off."
Scott: "Open room. Nowhere to hide." "Unless, Tony get us those scans of the room. -Girls, can you.. make the kids feel like they have to pee?"
Emma: Emma: "Isn't hacking into the FBI a felony, Tony?" Emma smirked, "Just two or three kids should do. Tread lightly, ladies, one small slip and we'll have a worse problem." Emma looked at Scott before settling herself on the roof "It'll be just like we practiced with that student...Slow and easy. Just make the suggestion." She watched the girls carefully.
Cuckoos: "Got it," they replied. Their eyes glowed a bright white as they picked three children out of the crowd. Different genders, not sitting right next to each other, nothing could look too much like a conspiracy even if the children looked too young to make any complex plans. Then it was just a matter of pressing part of their brains until they were dancing in their seats.
Tony: "So is hacking into the Pentagon, Em." Tony replied.
Scott: "Thanks, be careful. And remember, if they catch you, take the cyanide.". Scott unzipped his suit, taking out the tablet. "Can I make a suggestion? Bigger pockets next time.". Showing the plans to Logan, he headed to the section of roof, looking down at the ground. "Need to do this quietly," he reminded him.
Logan: Logan got up to follow Scott, snorting. "Quietly, dunno the meaning of the word," he teased with a grin.
Emma: "Well I won't tell if you don't. And that better have been a joke" Emma stated shaking her head at the other two. "Just don't get us or them killed okay."
Scott: "So glad you could make it by the way.". "Make sure they're standing out of the way," he said to the telepaths. Scott stepped back, blasting a hole in the roof about the size of a manhole cover before jumping through
Cuckoos: Organizing children without telepathy would have been something of an uphill battle. With it, they pushed them again to scoot back against the wall and sit perfectly still. Crying would only be a distraction for the others.
Logan: "No deaths, got it," Logan winked before following after Scooter.
Scott: As soon as they landed, the bathroom door was opening. "Eyy. What was that noise in 'ere?". Scott ran for the door, puling the guy in and disarming the machine gun. "Don't hurt him. Get that helmet off." he told Logan. "Emma?"
Emma: "Gotta it off?" She asked before not needing an answer. She fell into that trance like the girls had. While he wasn't harder than anyone else to control she had half a mind to just kill him but resisted. She spoke through the man this time, "Ready.?"
Logan: Logan let him go once he confirmed Emma had control, cracking his neck. "Scoot?"
Tony: "Ah, guys? We have a problem," Tony whispered, hiding behind a bush not far away from the agents. "They're planning on breaking in. Five minutes." As he spoke, Tony crawled back to behind the van.
Scott: He emptied the chamber of the gun, handing it to not-Emma. "Shit. Where?" he snapped. "Okay we have to move. Can you buy us some time?"
Emma: Emma grabbed the gun back, before looking at the two. "Well then..." She moved toward the door, "Shall we boys?"
Logan: Logan shrugged and his hands flexed as his claws came out. "As ready as we'll ever be."
Tony: "Both front and back," he replied, putting his laptop back into its bag. "I can blow up their van." He suggested with a smile. Or he could do less damage by showing up as Iron Man and distract them. That depended on Bummers' reaction to the first option.
Scott: "They'll think they're under attack. Other options?"
Cuckoos: 'You know,' the Cuckoos commented over the mental link. 'The agents aren't wearing those helmets...'
Tony: "I'll figure something out, don't worry."
Emma: "You can buy us some time, girls." Emma stated as walked in front of Scott ann Logan , "Remember, don't kill them." She pushed the door open and looked around, children sitting quietly on the far wall
Scott: "If they start coming in, stop them." he told the cuckoos. There were five guys guarding them. One patrolling up and down the line of kids, the rest in a huddle discussing something. Scott walked out with his hands up. "Alright you caught us." he said walking to the huddle, nudging Logan along. "Remember that meat skewer thing?" he whispered.
Logan: Logan bit back a growl as he was nudged to follow, his hands lifting up. "What fuckin' meat skewer thing?"
Cuckoos: They gritted their teeth, determined to keep their focus on the children they were keeping quiet and the state of the agents. If they could just keep the leader preoccupied, Stark could monitor the group. There he was, the man with the title. Okay. Focus. 'You're waiting. Waiting on something important - so important. The phone. You've got to watch the phone or you might miss it. What does time matter? The phone is still there. You're so desperate to matter, the call is coming soon.'
Scott: "The one where they shoot at you and not me." Scott shot first, into the middle of the group knocking a few over, leaving the rest for Logan. Then sprinted at the other fifth loitering by the rest of the kids
Logan: Logan raised his brows in recognition. As soon as Scott was off, his claws came out and he rushed to get the attention of those still standing. This time, not keeping himself from 'slashing' a few and proving himself a threat to waste some bullets on instead of the asshole in glasses.
Emma:: Emma gritted her teeth at Logan's comment to fight the eye roll. She looked about the room taking note of positions before Scott spoke making his way into the middle of their huddle. The few that hadn't been knocked out were Logan's. The body she was controlling moved toward the kids, watching Scott sprint towards them as well. She focused on the children rather than the other, man. Scott could handle that, he was closer.
Scott: The was scattered gunfire and shouting as the group reacted to Logan, they scattering in all directions. spraying bullets at his vague shape. "Get down." Scott yelled at the kids. " There was another boom from the corner of the room. Loud, thunderous, sending shockwaves through the rest of the gym. Hearing the gunfire the Feds had stormed in triggering the rigged doors. The guy he was running at aimed his gunfire from Logan to him. Scott blasted off his helmet.
Logan: Logan flinched at the loud explosion, stabbing the man he had on him in the throat before shaking off what bullets had been shot in him. "Em, ya might need to make me a new costume, darlin'."
Cuckoos: The Cuckoos cried out in pain, unable to restrain all of the agents against the draw of the gunfire. They had hit the rigged doors, which only made the situation worse, and they had no hope of regaining control of all of them. All they could do was force the children to get down and remain still.
Emma: Emma sighed, "Of bloody course i do..." She muttered as she let the body she'd been controlling hit the ground , careful to leave it unconscious as she left . She switched focus from the body to the FBI at the cry of the cuckoos. "keep the kids low to the ground" Emma instructed in her own voice. Finding as many agents heads as she could, she forced them to turn their attention from Logan, Scott and the children and on each other. It wasn't going to last long but it would be enough for them to get the children out. She looked over to Scott from one of the agents and spoke. "Get them out."
Scott: Scott dispatched the last guy in front of him. Not-Emma collapsed. There was the sound of Agents shouting, confusion, pulling their wounded from the gym doors, more swarming in. Then he saw Logan's blood soaked form standing over a dead man. He turned to another Agent talking to him. He didn't need to be told twice. He walked up a blank wall of the gymnasium, blasting as he did so, making a hangar sized hole. "Take them outside," he said to the cuckoos, going to the toilet to pick up the three left there and carry them outside
Logan: While Scott worked on getting the kids out, Logan turned back to the newcomers. He flexed his hands as he waited for the inevitable gunshots, only then rushing at them swinging to take them all out.
Cuckoos: The Cuckoos stepped forward to accept the evacuating children. "All right, let's keep moving," Sophie said, directing them out of the building. "Stick together."
Scott: Once the last kids were outside, Scott ran back to find Logan raising hell as usual. "We could still get out now," he thought, "Wipe their minds of our faces, avoid the headache..."
Emma: Emma left the Agents mind and took a second to focus her own mind and make her way to help heard the children to a spot away from the building. "I supposed " She avoided even glancing at Logan's direction. "We could, but that's an awful lot of minds Scott....." As much as she wanted to avoid things they were a little far past that.
Logan: Once Logan finished at least getting them unarmed, he turned towards Scott. "What're we doin', Scooter?"
Scott: "Surrendering." he said with a sigh, more symbolic than anything now they were all unarmed. "The kids are outside, the bad guys have been put down. Now take me to to your leader." he told the nearest Agent."
Cuckoos: 'Miss Frost - has he completely lost his head?' the Cuckoos demanded, standing among the children that had been successfully evacuated.
Emma: Emma blinked looking at Scott masking her surprise quickly, before looking at the Cuckoos, "I don't- Apparently he has, yes. " She mumbled rubbing her temple, "Scott...what do you think they're going to do? because it's not going to be nice or good."
Scott:""Either we run or we face the music and I want to set the story straight. What do you want to do?"
Cuckoos: "We vote run. Obviously. They don't care about getting the story straight - or do you really think they genuinely like mutants any more than the ones in helmets?"
That wasn't the only reason they wanted to avoid becoming the subject of a great deal of attention, but it wasn't a lie.
Logan:: "Run," Logan voted. "Ain't no getting a story straight. We're mutants, we're auto the bad guys to the public. It'd be stupid to stay," Logan claimed.
Emma: "Clearly you don't want me to say run...But they" She motioned to Logan and the girls, "Are right. We go out there what stops them for arresting us for something trivial on the principle we're the mutants.? But if we leave it to them who knows what will happen? The stories could get a lot worse about us, or worse they've seen our faces what happens if they come hunt us down too?... It's your call, Scott.".
Logan: "Hey, fuck that. Ain't his call if he says we go out there and try to talk to 'em," Logan claimed. "I'm not gettin' arrested and I'm not gettin' blamed for shit because I'm a mutant, when they were the bad ones," he explained.
Scott: "This makes us no better than vigilantes.." He had to bite his lip to stop from saying something horribly naive like, but we did the right thing. Scott sighed. "Let's go."
Emma: "You know this doesn't make the problem go away..." Emma stated, but nodded nonetheless, "Isnt that what we are though, Scott?"
Logan: "S'what we are, Scooter," Logan pointed out. "She's right. We don't act for the actual law, jus' our own law. Even if we're doin' right, they'd still take us to jail for doing it our way and not theirs."
Cuckoos: "And we'd sooner walk ourselves back to campus from here than let those gun-happy fools arrest us," the Cuckoos said, crossing their arms over their chests.
Scott: "There's one law Logan." Scott said, but his tone had no fight. "Jet's a mile away. Hope you were being literal about the run part."
