The ministry was abuzz with activity, workers going left and right through the atrium as Dominique stared at the chaos, visitor pass in hand. She had rarely stepped foot in the place in her life; the hidden inner workings of the government remaining a mystery to her. It wasn’t until she had returned from France that she had spent any extended time there, her statement being taken by the Aurors over and over for hours until they had finally let her go home and sleep. She had tried to avoid it, but a longing to speak with her sister had finally pushed Dominique through her aversion and sent her to the Ministry, a box of muffins in hand.
Victoire was nowhere to be found, the whole department mostly empty except Teddy’s familiar face. She had hardly spoken to her sister’s ex since her return, but now she made her way toward him, pulling up a chair from the desk next to his and setting the muffins on her desk. As she looked at him, she cracked a small smile. “They leave you here to guard the place, or something?”
