Also, what's the guarantee that the ventilator they took away from the first person actually would save any of the others? That that person's death would guarantee survival of anyone else? Life doesn't work like that. Also if you've got a population of 50, and at some point everybody is guaranteed to need a ventilator, you've got some kind of a bigger problem, not only one inconvenient person on a ventilator.

THAT IS THE BEST PHRASE EVER.

My stance is that people should use the terminology that describes their experiences best, be that special interest, burning obsession, hyperfixation, or the attention span of a gnat. I firmly do not agree with telling people they cannot use a term that describes their experience because it supposedly “belongs” to a group that they don’t belong to. (I mean, as long as we aren’t talking about cultural appropriation. But none of the terms I’m talking about here are cultural in that way so they can’t be appropriated. I mean, most of the people saying only autistic people can use “special interest” think that it was coined by autistic people, which it most certainly was not.)
