Though we haven’t heard from the Bay’s very own Toro Y Moi (aka Chaz Bundick, aka Chaz Bear), in some time, the prolific artist hasn’t exactly been sitting still on the music front, either. After all, he did produce one of our favorite debut albums this year from Oakland’s Tanukichan, who’s quite the musical storyteller when it comes to dream pop and shoegaze. She’ll even be joining him on tour early next year, if we recall the announcement on our socials correctly. Today, the synthpop and experimental R&B talent released a brand new tune named Freelance, lifted from his forthcoming album Outer Peace, out on January 18th. Chaz spins us round with his electro-disco-funk on the jam, whose chic music video was directed by Harry Israelson. You can already pre-order Outer Peace, here. Toro Y Moi will be touring the US for much of November. He’ll be returning to San Francisco for a couple of Fillmore shows in mid-January.
