Get more out of your hand lotion
You can turn almost any inexpensive (read, cheap) store brand or dollar store hand lotion, into a luxury lotion, (or, extend the life of your favorite expensive hand lotion) by adding two ingredients.
For every 1/2 cup (about 118-120 mL) of lotion, you will need...
1/2 cup (about 118 mL) Olive Oil
1 gel cap of Vitamin D or Vitamin E (optional, but nice)
You may also want to use a hand mixer (or a stand mixer, or an immersion blender), to make this a lot easier. If you can't use a mixer for some reason, you can use a whisk instead, but be prepared to mix for a while.
Add the lotion, and the olive oil, to a bowl large enough to mix in without splashing out.
Pierce the gel cap vitamin (if using it) with a tack, a push pin, or a needle, and add the contents of it to the lotion and oil.
Using a mixer, start on the lowest setting to incorporate the parts. Then, on the highest setting, whip the mixture until soft peaks form. About 5 minutes. If whisking by hand, you may need to go longer.
If peaks never form, or don't stay long enough, it's okay. It may be that the lotion you're using isn't whippable, or it may not have enough emulsifiers to completely incorporate the oil. As long as all of the parts are mixed as well as possible, which using a mixer for five minutes should do, then it should be fine.
Transfer to a pump bottle, or a squeeze bottle, and use whenever you feel the need to.
Cheap, clean (and, preferably, new), picnic-type squirt bottles works very well for this. They allow to squeeze out a small amount, so there's less waste than normal squeeze bottles; and, you never have to worry about losing the attached lid.
Because of the Olive Oil, this will leave a bit of a greasy residue, but you can help this by not using more of the mixture than you feel you need to, when you need it.
Not a great pic, but good lotion results.
