Usually I am a one-in-one-out kind of quilter and start the actual quilting within a couple of days of finishing a top. That was not the case for this quilt. This quilt top sat in time out for almost a month after I finished it because I just wasn’t happy with it. Now that some time has passed, I realize it is cute; I was just disappointed because I had been going for a gingham look and ended up with a checker board.
I am sure whatever child receives it will love it, and maybe even play some games of giant checkers on it some day. Meanwhile, I think if I make a gingham quilt again, I need to remember to have one of the “solid” colors in a light/low value and the other dark.
