Cocoa Puffs (Will's Version)

Nico: Will...

Will: Yeah?

Nico: What are those? *points to balls near Will's feet*

Will: Hm? Oh! Those are Cheese Puffs!

Nico: ...What?

Will: Cheese Puffs. Idk either. They just appeared out of no where and started following me.

Nico: What's this one? *points to a Cheese Puff with angel wings*

Will: That is Lee. He reminds me of the times I got to help as a medic. And since Lee taught me what I need to know, I named him Lee.

Nico: I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that this one with small horns is named Michael. *points to spiky Cheese Puff that's circling him*

Will: Yep! Reminds me the times I helped in the field.

Nico: Why's it circling me?

Will: Think he's trying to protect you

Nico: from what?

Will: *shrugs*

Michael Puff: *freezes when a leaf falls in front of him then tries to intimidate it then proceeds to circle Nico again*

Will: And this one *carries a bunny eared cheese puff* This one is Nico Jr.

Nico: ...and what does he do?

Will: Reminds me of you. You know how you have 15 Cocoa Puffs? Well, bow we have 30!

DinApril Day 16: A dinosaur that can use tools (that your father saw).

Welcome to DinApril 2026, where instead of recycling my list from last year, I made my father come up with the dinosaurs! Our sixteenth day features a dinosaur that can use tools: Corvus brachyrhynchos! A female American crow has, in a reference to this experiment, figured out how to solve an Aesop's task apparatus to get a cheese puff. Two males commentate in the background.

I was having trouble coming up with something for this prompt until I found the aforementioned paper, which talked about how female American crows are more likely to use tools than males. The ensuing commentary on gender roles was the logical conclusion.

Okay Enough About Soren's Trauma Let's Talk About Food

He likes salty snacks the best. The more artificial flavors and garbage that's bad for you, the better.

His favorite snacks of all time are cheese puffs. Second favorite are corn/tortilla chips. But he'll eat anything that comes in a bag, is laden with salt, crunches, and is bad for you.

He loves cheese-flavored anything. Of course preferring artificial cheese to "fancy real cheese", which he once complained about. No-one tell him about Velveeta.

Once, at a rest stop, Soren discovered nachos. Combining cheese with chips? And calling it a meal? Yes please!

Any loss of his favorite snacks is treated as seriously as if someone died. If he voluntarily gives up snacks- or throws them away, like when he dropped a tub of cheese puffs on an enemy- it is a "sacrifice".

Official lore for the cartoon Soren comes from claims he can be won over easily with snacks. He will claim this isn't true, but in most cases it is.

Because half his meals are fast food, Soren usually gets chicken nuggets. He'll eat hamburgers- especially cheeseburgers- on occasion, but he prefers the nuggies.

Soren also likes sweets, though not as much as salty stuff. If he can taste salt with the sugar, he's more likely to get addicted. No one tell him about chocolate-covered pretzels.

Soren especially likes sugary cereal, and despises cereals geared more towards adults. Especially raisin bran. Which Tenshi- aka the teenager suffering from terminal parentification- thinks is a health food.

Though this hasn't been mentioned in any of the books yet, Soren only drinks water, soda, and milk. It's kind of a miracle he drinks water, but given his lifestyle as a street rat/on the run from the law, he can't be too picky.

Soren's least favorite foods are "adult-oriented". Veggies, health foods, the aforementioned "fancy cheese" and raisin bran, beans, bland fish or chicken, coffee, etc. He doesn't like the smell of alcohol, either, and (fortunately, due to his age) has no desire to drink it. He's perfectly willing to let other people eat or drink these things. Fortunately, he has plenty of friends to slip these items to.
