The enemies are basically monsters made of black ink.
Those with other colors mixed in may contain magical ink.

Day 50
Fucked up apprentice she’s crazy
I found a piece of concept art McPig drew of Peppino, and apparently, Peppino can be a major asshole when he's desperate.
Peppino insults a cheeselime to his face by calling him a "mediocre sentient slab of melted cheese" and remarks that pizza monster families are "not real families".
I cannot believe Peppino is racist against pizza monsters. He doesn't even see them as people in this concept art...
What makes this so ironic to me is that in one version of Pizza Tower's lore, the pizza monsters inhabiting the tower currently are literally the descendants of humans. Thing is, Pizzamancer may have been human once, and he had human followers. They built the Pizza Tower to reach the Great Crust in the Sky, and they were punished for their hubris by being turned into pizza monsters... presumably by a god who resembles Pizzaface. (Pizzahead made Pizzaface in order to imitate that god.) Those pizza monsters remained in the Pizza Tower and had families together, many generations of which would remain in the Tower until the present day.
In other words, Peppino may not realize he's being racist because pizza monsters don't appear human in his eyes. But then imagine if someone explained to him the origin of their ancestors, and his face slooooowly pales as he realizes how badly he's fucked up. These aren't monsters. These aren't humans either, but they're people. Like the aliens Peppino sees in his sci-fi shows that he loves.
Imagine if Peppino's special interest in sci-fi activated his curiosity in learning more about pizza monsters and other food people and their cultures. Imagine if he slowly made himself anti-racist without realizing it. And mind you, he's a neurodivergent old man who's probably never been to therapy. He's gonna fuck up a lot, and he's gonna learn a lot, but ultimately, it would make for one hell of an interesting story.
I also want to draw everyone's attention to Peppino's delusional rant about his pizza: "My pizza will save marriages! It will stop famine and war! You'll see! YOU'LL SEE!"
Peppino being a delusional racist... just like his twin brother Maurice, but in a different way! Maurice is delusional in that he's a right-wing conspiracy theorist. He's racist for the same reason. I'm sorry to compare these two when they hate each other, I love them both, but THEY BOTH NEED SENSITIVITY TRAINING! AND THEY NEED TO GET DRAGGED BY THEIR EARS!
Speaking of Maurice... based upon his constant anger, his violent behavior, and on things he's said to Peppino, I developed the following headcanons about him:
Like Peppino, he is an adult Italian-American man in his 50's, with a mental state that causes him to respond in such a way that it suggests his emotional maturity is that of an adolescent boy rather than a grown adult man.
Based on how both brothers have anger issues and are prone to violence, it is safe to assume they were both brought up in a stressful environment.
I'm inclined to believe Maurice is neurodivergent just like Peppino. Autism and ADHD for both of them. Maurice is better at masking than Peppino is, and bullies Peppino for any neurodivergent behavior he fails to mask himself. He doesn't do it knowingly; he just wants Peppino to stop acting weird because it makes HIM look bad.
I think Maurice wanted to be closer to Peppino all these years but because they're Italian-American men from Gen X, he might have been afraid of looking weak for wanting those things, and copes with his feelings by being cruel to Peppino whenever he spends time with him.
Maurice and Peppino may have had a dad who was too loud and may have unintentionally scared them.
I kind of went all over the place with this post and I'm sorry about that.
