So I saw this in an anon ask to @santiagosnart (hope its okay to tag?) ages ago and I thought I'd have a go at this
It's before the hotel is bombed, a completely unremarkable day. Freddie is away at base, toby and lady hamilton are having breakfast as they almost always do
Until
Emma comes in with what looks like a rather large hat box
A rather large hat box that's squeaking
Toby is super confused and he looks over at his mother thinking she'll be the same but she's got this excited look and she's smiling of all things
And toby's just so confused
Emma gives him the box and so he opens it
To find
This tiny little labrador puppy
Who is just so excited to be let out of that fucking box
So naturally the first thing she (the puppy) does is thank toby by giving him a big lick on his cheek
The second thing she does is try to steal the rest of his breakfast but lady hamilton is not having that
The puppy was her idea though, she's tired of her son being alone all the time
And yeah a dog isn't really a substitute for an actual person but she'll take what she can get for now
When toby goes to work she cries for hours and no one's really sure what to do
So they close her in toby's room, thinking it might be comforting
And she's just... left there... all day
When toby gets home it looks like MI5 have gone through his stuff again
And there's his puppy in the middle of it chewing up one of his pillows
Toby's just glad he took all the important papers to work cause how the fuck did she get on the desk??
When she sees him she flings herself at him
But she trips over her paws midway
Walking is hard when your paws are almost as big as the rest of you okay?
So toby picks her up and holy shit she's just so happy to see him that he almost drops her
Then there's a soft knock at the door and adil comes in
He looks from toby to the crazy wriggly puppy to the rest of the room
And they both just burst out laughing because this pup is an absolute menace but she's adorable and toby's not even mad
Mrs Hobbs mutters later that of course he wouldn't be mad, he doesn't have to clean it up
In the meantime though, the puppy sees there is a new person in the room and she's gonna greet him immediately
Except she's forgotten toby's still holding her and she very nearly fall on her face
But it's okay! Cause now she can meet adil!
Adil is now her second favourite person
Except for the fact he keeps stealing toby
At night when the boys are sleeping with their feet tangled together she drapes herself over their ankles
She’s decided she's never gonna use her dog bed and toby doesn't mind, she's warm
And this is fine, until she gets bigger
Then she cuts the circulation off to their feet
So she finds a new spot
Right in between toby and adil
She doesn't understand why they won't let her sleep there
When adil isn't there, she steals his spot
She gets banned from the kitchen after she eats half a wedding cake and steals part of the main course
Max thinks it's a shame she has no manners cause she's a really sweet dog
Robbie doesn't like her much when he's working but after a shift he'll give her some of the leftover scraps when he thinks no one is looking
Everyone knows though
Since the staff have decided that locking the dog in a room is a bad idea, she basically gets to go anywhere she likes in the hotel when toby's at work
Except the kitchen
And the hotel rooms
Mr garland complains that she needs training
But he secretly enjoys her company
Sometimes she lays on top of his feet in his office when he's working
But usually she lays down near the bar and keeps tom and adil company while they prepare for the evening
The staff all basically love her
Except Mrs Hobbs
That crazy bitch has given her more work in the last two months than all the guests she's cleaned up after since she started working at the halcyon
But when toby comes home she's with him immediately, jumping up and demanding his attention
The guests have mixed opinions on this but toby couldn't care less
Lady Hamilton resents that the puppy likes mr garland more than her
When freddie first meets the puppy she's been living with toby for a little over a month
When he comes in the door she rushes up to him thinking it might be toby
But she stops before she jumps up, cause no that's not her toby this is a stranger
And freddie is confused cause since when was there a badly trained labrador at the halcyon?
Emma quickly fills him in
The puppy isn't a big fan of Emma, she put her in a box
Who knew that dogs held grudges?
They're getting better though
Then toby shows up and the puppy flings herself at him in her usual way
And freddie is equal parts horrified and amused
I could come up with more but this is starting to get pretty long. I might make a part two if people are interested? Also if anyone wants to come up with a name for the puppy that’d be amazing?
