Mrs Hamilton: if it were up to me, you'd be out of a job
Mr Garland: then I am very happy it's not up to you

Mr Hamilton:
Give Toby Hamilton a puppy
So I saw this in an anon ask to @santiagosnart (hope its okay to tag?) ages ago and I thought I'd have a go at this
It's before the hotel is bombed, a completely unremarkable day. Freddie is away at base, toby and lady hamilton are having breakfast as they almost always do
Until
Emma comes in with what looks like a rather large hat box
A rather large hat box that's squeaking
Toby is super confused and he looks over at his mother thinking she'll be the same but she's got this excited look and she's smiling of all things
And toby's just so confused
Emma gives him the box and so he opens it
To find
This tiny little labrador puppy
Who is just so excited to be let out of that fucking box
So naturally the first thing she (the puppy) does is thank toby by giving him a big lick on his cheek
The second thing she does is try to steal the rest of his breakfast but lady hamilton is not having that
The puppy was her idea though, she's tired of her son being alone all the time
And yeah a dog isn't really a substitute for an actual person but she'll take what she can get for now
So... I’ve got a theory.
In the “The Halcyon” we are left with lots and lots of questions about what would happen next, but today I started wondering if maybe there was a articular reason for the bomb that fell on top of our favourite 40s London hotel.
There is that moment that Mr. Garland is covering for Lady Hamilton kill, and he is seen upstairs’ smoking a cigarette in Mr. D’Abberville’s room, we see it two times: first at the beginning of the show, second when it’s actually happening. The thing that struck me the most the first time I watched that scene was how he carelessly dropped a lit cigarette in a period were most of the fixtures were wood and there were many carpets and heavy blinds. My first thought actually was “idiot you are gonna start a fire!” and that was it. I was quite a bit confused even after contextualising the scene. Why would he lit a cigarette and drop it to the floor? It was maybe to burn the body?
But then it hit me: during the war the Luftwaffe used every bit of light they could find to attack major cities under the blackout, we are shown in one of the episode how they bombarded London during the day to use the fires that the incendiary bombs had ignited to bomb London once more during the night. So, the fire that most probably Mr. Garland lit was a beacon for the enemy who managed to drop a bomb right on our hotel.
So this is my theory: in a way Mr. Garland could be responsible for the tragedy that hit the hotel in the last minutes of the show. He did not drop the bomb but he led the Germans right on top of the hotel.
