Nagito had just been minding his own business at first, like he normally would when leaving school grounds. But when the drop of rain landed on his nose, his eyes automatically scanned the sky and the area around him. He quickly rummaged through his bag and pulled out a large green umbrella. He brought one everyday, with luck like his, you could never be too prepared.
He released the clamp, letting the umbrella spring up with a force that almost knocked it out of Komaeda’s hands. When he was do with is preparations, he let his eyes scan the students as the repeated the same action as him. Except for... Kaede Akamatsu, she seemed to be frazzled looking at the rain. He noticed the lack on umbrella in her hands which made him quickly rush over to the gate.
He hadn’t really spoken to her much until now, so he could understand the confused look on her face. Without hesitation, he handed the umbrella towards her, hoping she’d take it. But maybe she didn’t want his hand outs, maybe she liked the rain. It dawned on him that an ultimate such as her would never need help from trash like him.
But just in case, he rolled his shoulders and gave her a bright smile that he’d give any ultimate he came across. “Hey Akamatsu-san! I noticed your lack of umbrella and figured I’d offer you mine. Of course, if you want to decline I’d totally understand.” She seemed to take it well, which let him relax slightly as he listened to what she had to say.
What a silly question, anyone in his position would give up anything to help out someone like her. “Of course Akamatsu-san, if you are in need of an umbrella than I could do nothing but offer it to you.” She was right though, he himself would have no protection from the rain pouring down. But that fine with him, he saw no other option so he’d rather get soaked. “That’s awfully kind of you to be thinking about me, but don’t worry! I’ve walked home in the rain before, and I’d much rather get soaked that you.
