Before she got up to go check up on Shuichi, Kaede had spent most of the early afternoon in her research lab, studying some recipe notes. It was mostly how to make different kinds of broths, since they can in many different noodle and soup dishes.

Though, she eventually decided she studied them enough for right now and decided to see what Shuichi was up to. After all, she was always curious about what he was going to paint or draw next. That, and making sure he wasn’t overworking himself, as she honestly does worry at time if he forgets to eat if he’s too engrossed in a drawing or idea.

Getting up from her seat, she excitedly makes her way over to his research lab. Seeing that he’s in there, she calls out to him. “Shuichi!” Though that seemed to startle him, in which she gave a laugh.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to surprise you.” She shakes her head. “No, it’s not that: I just wanted to hang out with you, if that’s alright.” She looks at the canvas for a second before looking back towards him. “Ooo, what are you going to draw today?”

He laughed as well, scratching his head nervously. “It’s okay… hm, I was thinking of a fisherman out on a lake with a sunset as the background. But I’m having trouble figuring out his silhouette…” he spoke with a hand on his chin.

A short pause. “Ah, but if you want to hang out with me, then I can start it later…! I think I need a break anyways.” After all, he was in his lab for almost the entire morning. Plus, he was getting a bit hungry. “So… where shall we go, Kaede?” He showed her a smile as he put the pencil down. Kaede seemed to care for him as well as the others way too much, He liked that about her.

“Wow, that looks AMAZING!”

     Sayori was honestly so awestruck by his painting that she was completely speechless for a moment, but when she can speak again the first words out of her mouth are a COMPLIMENT. After all, it was a beautiful painting! She wondered where he learned how to paint like that - and Sayori isn’t one to hold back on her curiosity.

“Did you go to an art school? Or are you self-taught, if you don’t mind me asking!”

“Ah, thank you...!”

Compliments like that always brought a big smile on the artistic prodigy’s face. Plus, he had seen this girl around but never got around to talking to her. If memory served him right, she was the Ultimate Poet. She sure was an energetic one. A light chuckle escaped him.

“Self-taught, actually. I liked drawing since I was a child and my parents supported me all the time... before I knew it, everyone was calling me an artist. Although, I don’t feel like I deserve to share that title with Angie, haha. You are... the Ultimate Poet, right? I’m Shuichi Saihara; it’s nice to meet you.

Shuichi was pondering about his next piece of art-- or sketch, for starters. Before making the real thing, he always sketched it to ensure everything was perfect. The lines, curves, anything. Despite being slightly anxious when engaging in conversations with others, his classmates, sans Kokichi, were really nice to him.

With a pencil in hand, he stared at the empty canvas in front of him, lost in thought. Then someone’s voice startled him so much, he thought he was going to have a heart attack. Turning around, he was relieved to see it was just Kaede.

“Ah, Kaede! Y-You startled me...! Did something happen? I-I’m not hungry... yet. You don’t have to worry about me.”
