Summary:

Ichigo is absolutely convinced that Kisuke is full of it when he tells Ichigo that during his Onmitsukidou days, honeypot missions were part of his skill set. Honestly, Ichigo can't imagine Urahara Kisuke seducing anyone.

Which might be why Ichigo doesn't realize it's happening to him.

build your wings on the way down

For anyone who might be curious about what's going on with build your wings on the way down (probably like two people max) I would like to note that I am still working on it and I hope to have the second chapter out before the end of the year. (Progress bars for my fic projects can be found here if you're interested.)

The reason it's taking so long is because right at the beginning of June I was hired onto an awesome new job, and by job I mean actual career in the field I went to college for, so that's been absolutely awesome and my workplace is awesome and my boss and colleagues are awesome and it's all fantastic, and also awesome. I'm so happy and fortunate to have been given this position and opportunity.

That said, it's a steep learning curve. The previously mentioned awesome boss and colleagues are there for me every step of the way, both as I find my footing and ongoing in general, just as they are for each other, but it's still a steep learning curve and the welfare of other people is in my hands. I generally want to do things both right and well in whatever I do, but I especially want to ensure I know what the hell I'm doing in this.

Long story short, it's been taking up a lot of my time and energy, so I haven't had much to spare to really focus on writing. (I've also had some writer's block but the delay has been 90% the new career.)

Anyway, just wanted to throw out into the universe that I haven't abandoned the fic. It's still on my to do list. It's not my biggest priority right now, but I know that some people enjoyed it and would be happy to read another chapter, so it's definitely a priority.

In closing, the second chapter is delayed but definitely going to come out. I hope you're all doing well and keeping safe!

Urahara Kisuke is a blade, the sharpest Ichigo has ever felt cut into his flesh. Ichigo was slashed by Zabimaru's cruel spikes, was stabbed clean through by Senbonzakura and nearly bled to death — yet for all that Urahara has so far only ever left surface wounds during training, Ichigo never feels more like he's facing his own death than he does when Urahara points a sword at him.

(Ichigo had been too caught up in becoming stronger to wonder about that, then. Too desperate to gain every drop of power he could to save Rukia, too hard-headed to pause for a moment, too young and brash to step back and think. To wonder why his instincts looked at Renji and Byakuya, who'd left him for dead, and howled for a fight; but looked at Urahara, who'd saved his life, and whispered, "Monster.")

Paralogue 16: Leokumi Edition Like with Kiragi’s Paralogue, I decided to try a Leokumi family edit of this one. This one was tougher than Kiragi’s, since I couldn’t imagine inserting a parent into the conversation who wouldn’t have stopped Leo’s BS right in its tracks, much less someone as hot-tempered and outspoken as Takumi. I think I worked it through all right, though. All changes below the cut. WARNING: IMAGE HEAVY

Paralogue 8: Leokumi Edition

I originally posted this as a video because I couldn't get the screenshot function to work. However, it’s magically started working again (yay?) so out with the awful, shaky-hand video and in with the pretty screenshots!

Okay, so, despite my utter lack of coding ability, one of the few things I am capable of doing (with some huge help) is editing a base existing scene to add someone else into it. So I did. I present to you Kiragi’s Paralogue, now with added Leokumi family flavour for some spice. Because Takumi is not the only concerned parent here. (I really wanted to also edit it so that Leo’s sprite appears on the map rather than Sakura’s, considering he’s now the other speaking party in that particular scene, but I have no idea where to even start with that.)

Paralogue 3: Azurrin Edition Here we go again. In a similiar vein as the other two paralogues I edited, this one has an Azurrin family bent to it, bringing Corrin (Shigure’s other parent in this playthrough) into the conversation. Poor Shigure... This is tied with Mozu’s for the saddest paralogue, and it’s definitely the saddest out of all the kids’ paralogues. Changes to the paralogue are under the cut.

His words were almost a whisper and it was just loud enough for her to hear what he said. “I can’t do this,” Maya whispered back. She knew he needed her, especially now that he had gotten sick, but the thought of what would happen after he was gone? She didn’t want to think about it - it hurt her too much. A future without Miles was the last thing she wanted in the world. Maya took a step back as he took a step forward. If she touched him now, it would be harder to let him go. Distancing herself was the best option. “I love you and you know I always will. But I can’t stay.”

Owen frowned when he heard the words, while he leaned his back to the wall as he took a drag of the cigarette in his hand. The smoke he blew out was taken by the wind, and he looked to Rose who stood beside him with her own cigarette in her hand. They had only known each other for a couple of months, despite the fact that they had classes with each other, and used to hang out now and then since that terrible night. That’s when things had started. And now she said she was in love with him? “Please don’t love me. All I’ve learned from love is that it will fuck with your head and it will cause you deep trouble. I can’t love you, I’ll just get you hurt.”
