Sorry for the “long” silence guys! This was requested by our lovely Nightingale! Xoxo, Ara~ [for reference]
There was a long silence, it felt like a long pause. Like the world stopped moving the moment the labyrinth closed. Like the world stopped breathing.
“Do you think she can make it?” Minseok sat next to Jongdae. Trying to see something with his binoculars, even though it was too dark and foggy to see. Jongdae gulped, intimidated by the forest, but nodded. “Yes, she’s strong and smart. She has been preparing for this forever,”
The truth was, he was terrified. One thing was the practice and another thing was the real world. This wasn’t just any tournament. It was the Triwizard Cup, people are known to die on it.
“Look!” Someone in the crowd shouted, pointing to the sky where red sparkles appeared. Jongdae felt his heart sink. Part of him wished it wasn’t you because he wanted you to win, but another part of him wished it was you so you would be safe. “Do you think it’s her?” Minseok asked his friend but his answer came shortly after. It was not. It was the student from Koldovstoretz. He looked in a terrible shape but was alive. Everyone clapped, to lift the mood. It was an honour to be in the cup, winner or not. He smiled a little before taken immediately to the infirmary. “Two left” Jongdae sighed. “Please come back to me baby”.
The tension was unbearable, everyone feared the worst since they hadn’t heard of the remaining two for hours. Sometimes it seemed like a scream would come from the labyrinth, sometimes a whisper. Jongdae was starting to beat his nails.
“It’ll be okay” His friend reassured him, patting his shoulder. “I know... but I can’t help being nervous,”
Suddenly the labyrinth opened, a strong gust of wind hit the audience. It was hard to see, hard to even breathe. But Jongdae tried to look ahead of him, to distinguish the silhouette of the person standing by the labyrinth entrance. He felt how his heart skipped a beat the moment he saw that long hair he so much adored. Fighting the wind he ran to her side, crying. “Y/N!!!” He screamed, “You did it!” As he approached you, he wrapped you in his arms tightly and yet careful to not hurt you. He didn’t know if you were injured or not. “You made it back!” You nodded and let the cup fall to the ground, as you hugged him back tightly. “I did... I found it” You were crying, drained by the adrenaline.
“What happened?” Jongdae asked as he kissed your face, crying with joy. You couldn’t focus on anything but him. You didn’t hear the cheers nor the professors congratulation you. You could only see his eyes and hear his melodic voice. “After I sent the sparks, things turned ugly. I teamed up with the Beauxbatons’ student for a while but we were separated by the labyrinth. It turned ugly in there, I hope she’s not that hurt. He turned to look around but the student was also taken to the infirmary short after she came out of the test.
“I don’t know how I found it though, but it was hard to get. So many traps before I could touch it. But the moment I did, the moment we both appeared here”
Your face felt stiff, it was probably the dirt, blood and tears. He wiped your cheeks with his thumbs and kissed you deeply. You started crying again, this time of relief. “Never let me do that again,” You whispered as you looked into each others’ eyes, forehead against forehead. Jongdae smiled and nodded. “You would kill it anyways; if you tried it again. You’re amazing. My girlfriend is the best witch on this planet!”
