My brain: what if you made charles slowly become more paralyzed the longer he's with erik because it harms his mental health and stresses his body out so much that he becomes physically ill but hes so in love with him that he rather spend his days paralyzed from the abdomen down instead of give up Erik?

Okay so modern/no powers au where Erik is a big Q*eer rights and Disability rights activist cause he's gay and disabled and Charles is also a big Q*eer rights activist and when he's paralyzed, Erik is like immediately there for him and that gets Charles through the adjustment phase because he immediately starts fighting again I'm thinking about the bigger themes of X-Men fighting for the other here and what's it represented throughout the years
