collectively we all need to talk more abt misa responding to cat calling him baby more. that is ground zero for 1000000 million inappropriate nicknames. we need to get on this
baby is not a crazy nickname but it’s vaguely controversial when toff is calling him that in the locker room and at home and in line to pick up dinner. but him and cat pick up vernacular from each other as easy as breathing. she thinks nothing of calling misa baby, he’s her adopted son who is really just a boy living in her house who asks her every other day if he should put his laundry on hot or cold.
toff does not want to taint the sanctity of cat calling misa baby by telling her that the guys poke fun at it. seriously, there is always someone waiting around to mock him after he calls out “good pass, baby” or “are you home for dinner, baby?”. it’s all oh, who’s your baby now toff? and do we need to call hr? he is sick of it bc there’s a serious double standard in that locker room
a lot of the older guys are calling misa “the baby” which they’ve said repeatedly is very different from just “baby”. and on the other end, sam goes from calling him idiot to misa soup to cupcake every other sentence. and everyone is fine with that which seems completely unfair
misa will really respond to anything though, if it’s said in his direction or with the right tone, his head will whip up. cherny can say probably a thousand different pet names in russian and with out fail, misa will go “yeah?” like he’s been waiting to be addressed. it’s terrible for the nickname ecosystem
