It's been one year already?!?! 😭😭

My beloved Cherry Liqueur is the first story I ever wrote fully in English and after a very long break from writing in general (let's say around 7 years!)

It was inspired by a wonderful perfume (Vicebomb by Simone Andreoli) that has become my favourite evening perfume (I have just ran out of a 100 ml bottle). It has notes of cherry and vanilla and it's a very sensual perfume, that's why it gave me the idea of cherry liqueur and vanilla ice-cream to go with it.

I really love the dream-like, magical atmosphere that I managed to write somehow and I'm so grateful so many people liked it!

Sakura Gin

And here we are, mates! The 2019 Rugby World Cup has begun in Tokyo today, with host Japan meeting Russia in an exciting first game. Even if Russia scored first, with Kirill Golostnitskiy scoring the first try of the tournament, and the fastest try in a World Cup opening match ever in the fourth minute of the game, the Brave Blossoms responded with a hat-trick by Kotaro Matsushima (who even scored four, but had one invalidated) and a fourth try by Pieter Labuschagné. As I’ve often mentioned, everything inspires me to create and mix up cocktails, from literature to, yes, sports, and I think I’ll be inspired heaps these next six weeks (even if the games are on in the morning here!) This opening game was a midday affair tough, and it seemed proper enough to toast to the host with this Sakura Gin! Have a good World Cup, friends!

Ingredients (serves 1):

6 ice cubes

1 teaspoon crème de cerise or cherry syrup

45 millilitres/1.5 ounce (3 tablespoons) good quality sake

45 millilitres/1.5 ounce (3 tablespoons) chilled London Dry Gin

a cherry blossom (when in season), a primrose will do otherwise, to garnish (optional)

In a shaker, combine ice cubes, crème de cerise, sake and gin. Shake energetically for about 40 seconds, and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with cherry blossom, primrose or another edible flower, if desired.

Enjoy Sakura Gin immediately. Cheers!
