“Catching up at the Kennedy Center’s “Chess”...Peace out Law & Order: SVU - the stage has reclaimed this one.”
Yo
“@chrisgeidner @RaulEEsparza It was one of the most gut wrenching performances I’ve ever seen. I thought his Bobby was transformative but this was next level. 100% worth a 15 hour trip to DC.”
A lucky Chess audience member.
Not my favorite interpretation of the material, but the Cast Recording is very good I'll admit. This was (I opened it) a mint copy which means I'm the first to ever play it! Taken away with how good this copy sounds! WOW
I LIKE CHESS THE NORMAL AMOUNT I SWEAR
The Soundtracks of Our Lives
"Next on your locally scheduled programing is The Soundtracks of Our Lives starring Yours Truly, stay tuned!” You could picture that right? Does anyone even watch cable like channels anymore? I might have to get it picked up on Netflix LOL. Nah (not yet anyways) the soundtracks of our lives is a fun title to a song rant post.
I was listening to a song the other night, a song from chess the musical. The first time I had heard it, or should say sung it, is in high school singing with my former best friend in a duet. I would eventually get my hands on the original soundtrack and watch the concert. I don’t normally appreciate the modern progression of these kinds of things but the concert was excellent. I rewatch it every so often to this day. To join me on my soundtrack, the link to the YouTube video is below.

The other night, I heard it in my minds background and thought I should listen to it, you know when you get a song stuck in your head, like whoever is the dj in your mind wants you to hear something or remember something. And things could be going better for me personally, especially in my head where I am doing what I thought was more of the culmination of two people coming together and feel mostly alone in doing so.
Isn’t it funny as hell how a song takes you right back there? Think about it, here I am in 2022 and in a second I am back to, 2007? Maybe 2008? That’s a jump of time. The words too. Two women loving the same man, but seeing him differently. Back then, it was vibing with my friend-neither of us had been in love really or in a relationship. Today? I am in a relationship, not friends with that person anymore, and feeling the words as if I was both of those women at the same time for one man?
That’s not the only song that does that to me, airplanes (I forget by who but I know it when I hear it) sounds like my college days. Elvis and Oldies sounds like my childhood. 3 Doors Down is my first/long distance boyfriend. Nickelback was my last boyfriend before my long term relationship current stuff. What I call “metal” was my highschool soundtrack when I wasn’t rocking out to a musical. But I have always said that if I were to have a movie of my life, the soundtrack would include songs from Last of the Mohicans. (Thinking about it, maybe the movie of my life really should be a multi episode thing?)
What song is currently playing in your head? What is the soundtrack of your life?
