Youngji walks up to Shinhye’s apartment with a gift bag in hand, containing a chest of sorts. Her knuckles gently rap against the doorframe, her feet pacing outside the door while she awaits a response. It sure is a different feel than when she left notes on the doorframe. There’s a certain kind of nervousness that washes over her at the thought of finally revealing herself. “Ah, I sure hope she likes it…” She’s greeted by an open door and youngji immediately dips her head into a low bow, standing a tad tense on her feet. “Hello.” she starts, fingers nervously tracing the gift bag’s handles. “I’m your secret santa. It’s very nice to finally meet you.” 

Upon hearing a knock at her apartment, Shinhye went to the entrance way to see who was visiting her at this hour. It was Christmas morning and she was excited as today marked the day her Cheonguk Secret Santa reveal themselves to her. As soon as she opened the door, she was met with a greeting-- a woman, with her head dipped into a lowly bow. Returning the friendly gesture, the twenty-four year old did the same as she exchanged the welcomed introduction.

❝ Annyeonghaseyo, ❞ she greeted the other with a small bow.  ❝ It's so very nice to finally meet you as well. Please come in, come in, ❞ she ushered her into her studio apartment.  ❝ I'm sorry for the limited space I have here, but please take a seat on the couch. Is there anything I can get you? A drink, some snacks, anything--? ❞ she began inquiring of her. Shinhye wanted to make her guest comfortable as best as she could since this was all very exciting.

Stephfany gives the door in front of her a few knocks before she places the small foiled container with brownies inside on the floor, in front of the door. She proceeds to hurry along the hallway, leaving the container. The container holds a small letter which reads "Here's a 'you got a new neighbor!' brownie packet. I now have taken over room 302. I'll try my best to be a good neighbor. Have a good day! (:"

Shinhye found it to be different when a new tenant contacted her upon them moving into the apartment complex. Although she was slightly  taken by surprise, it was a welcomed change as it was meant to be a friendly gesture. Her lips curved into a smile when she realized someone had moved into the apartment next to hers. So she decided to see if the neighbor was in the apartment by knocking on their door. ❝ Annyeonghaseyo, is anyone home? ❞ she beckoned.

*like a well-developed routine, the stranger collected the female's notes from her door, writing another response on a sticky note* "thank you for taking the time to snap a photo for me. I'm glad you liked my gift! I brought some grapes and apples for today. They're in season, and are good for your health too. Plus, they make for good pies. I also came to ask about what gifts you'd like to receive this year. Anything on your wishlist you'd like to share? -secret santa"

❝ Oh goodness, ❞ Shinhye gasp in surprise as soon as she reached her apartment. What she saw waiting for her was completely unexpected. The assortment of fruits had left her at a sudden loss for words. It was more than she could have asked for and she had to let her Secret Santa know that. Scribbling up a quick message on a post-it note, she relayed her gratitudinous thoughts

Dear Secret Santa,

Your generosity is far greater than I had expected. Honestly, you’ve gone above and beyond and to say thanks is the least I could do to express my sincerest gratitude. I cannot say that there is anything I would like to  receive as you’ve given me more than enough.

Perhaps by Christmas day you may reveal yourself. I would like nothing more than to pay you back by treating you with good company and a freshly brewed cup of coffee?

30 Day Character Development • 26

[ ☆ ] Write a letter as your character to their 13-year-old self.

Dearest Thirteen Year old Shinhye,

            For whatever the reason, I cannot for the life of me recall how things were when I was your age.. I must admit that worries me a little since that was nearly a decade ago... Has my memory declined since then? Dear god I hope not.

            Regardless, I would presume that life back then as a 13 year old is nothing like how my life is right now. Oh, perhaps I should mention that today is July 26, 2O14 and before you say, it I already know what you are thinking. No, I am not that old and no, cutting your hair short will not be worth it since it will take forever for your hair to grow out..

            I’m not exactly sure what I’m suppose to write about or how all of this works exactly, but I suppose I can tell you about how life is going for us when we’re twenty-four years old. It’s a little crazy to think about but you have a creative imagination so let me humor you for a bit, Shinhye.

            After completing and graduating from Seoul Young-Pa Girls' High School, we end up getting into and attending Chung-Ang University. There we major in Media Journalism with a minor in Mass Communication. So if omma ask why do we keep writing nonsense in our journal, you can just laugh and tell her that it’ll be worth it in the end.

            Anyway, after graduating from the university, we go into journalism working as a reporter with a well known newspaper company. We do that for a few years until you do some more freelance writing and eventually leave the press world and go into public relations.

            Eventually you’ll become hired by And Entertainment and work as a publicist. You will also end up moving into a studio apartment (go figure) in Hongdae at a complex called Cheonguk Apartments. Let’s just say your life will be fun there.

[/ he glanced down at the flowers in uncertainty. it was better than cheap wine, which would have been the only kind he could afford if he had any plans of ever leaving korea. either way, it was simply to introduce himself to his neighbour, so as he cautiously knocked on the door he held onto the hope that she would at least pretend to be thankful out of politeness]

{ ` after hearing a soft knock on her door, she stopped her unpacking momentarily to see who it was. she wasn’t expecting any visitors, so she was curious to say the least as to who could’ve been knocking at this hour. as she opened the door, she noticed it was an unknown man holding a small bouquet of flowers in his hands. looking back at the other, she gave him a puzzled expression; } Umm… hello there— Can I help you with something?

30 Day Character Development • O6

[ ☆ ] What was their life like before they signed onto AND Entertainment? How is it the same and how is it different? Do they miss how it used to be?

Life before signing onto AND Entertainment

Before signing her working contract with AND Entertainment Shinhye used to work as a full time reporter / writer for the newspaper company, Korea JoongAng Daily (JoongAng Ilbo) in Sunhwadong, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea. In addition to that, she worked part time as a freelance reporter for Allkpop, an online US based KPop blog as a guest writer from time to time (mostly out of fun).

All of her work consisted of utilizing her skills and talents as a writer. Shinhye would interview people, find creditable sources, and cross referenced all of her material before publishing all of her written pieces. She also used to live in a small studio bedroom in Myeong-dong so her commute to work wasn't that far (often depending on public transit as means of transportation).

Life after signing onto AND Entertainment

After signing her work contract with AND Entertainment Shinhye's now works as a full time publicist in Seoul, South Korea. Although her resume and work experience as a reporter could be easily applied to her new job at the company, this is her first job in the field of public relations. This gave her the opportunity to branch out of her comfort zone and learn new things thanks to Jeon Hee Sun.

With a new job, Shinhye also moved to a new location. Relocating to the Hongdae area of Seoul, South Korea she is currently now renting a studio apartment (#303) at Cheonguk Apartments by herself for the monthly rent of ₩ 1,100,000 (which luckily fits into her budget). Her new apartment complex is also a block away from the nearest subway station, which has made her commute to work less troublesome. 

-- Over all, Park Shinhye's life before joining the company AND Entertainment and after has had its set differences and similarities, respectively. Instead of being a reporter who writes stories and reports of the latest news, she is now handling all of the company's clients' public image and media coverage a publicist. She also moved her old apartment complex in Myeong-dong to Cheonguk Apartments in the Hongdae area to make commuting to work easier. Other than those differences, she is still the same Shinhye she has always been, but with a different career. Does she miss the way things used to be? Yes and no, to a point. While she does miss being a writer, reporting on the latest news and being able to creatively express herself, she finds that handing someone else's image and seeing her work help others to be more rewarding.

music blasting through her earbuds, yuji paid little attention to any of the faces of the tenants as she walked into the lobby; that is, until she noticed an unfamiliar face. squinting a bit at the unrecognizable woman she paused the song, approaching her tentatively with a small smile and a tap to the shoulder. "hey there, are you new?"

Casually browsing around the main lobby of Cheonguk Apartments, Shinhye quietly wandered around the premises. Since she recently moved into the apartment complex not too long ago, she figured she would need to at least familiarizing herself with the new area. Just as she was making her way around the ground floor common area, a tap on her shoulder caught her off guard.

Quickly turning around to see who the culprit was, Shinhye noticed it was an unknown female. ‘Probably one of the many tenants living here,’ she thought to herself as she put on a small smile of her own. As the other female inquired if she was new in town, the twenty-four year old nodded her head to confirm the other’s suspicion. ❝ As a matter of fact, I am. Is it that obvious? ❞ she awkwardly snickered.
