Rutgers’ Chi Phi fraternity donated 25 bags of food last month to The Center for Great Expectations in Somerset, New Jersey, as part of its community service and philanthropy efforts, said Keith Miklas, alumni philanthropy and community service chair for Chi Phi.
Keith Miklas, alumni philanthropy and community service chair for Chi Phi, said Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs JoAnn Arnholt’s requirements for fraternities and sororities helped drive the center donation and other efforts. All members must perform five hours of community service each semester, and all chapters should support the chosen philanthropic partner of their national organization, Arnholt said.

The Chi Phi Fraternity has opened it's doors to transgender and transsexual members.
One of the oldest college fraternities in the United States, Chi Phi, recently announced in a press-release that they are now going to allow membership to any individual who legally identifies as male.
In the press release, the fraternity’s Committee of Membership chairman, states that “our Fraternity and its individual members want to make Chi Phi more inclusive”.
This positive change in policy seems to have started when trans man Ryan Bishop wrote a blog post about being kicked out for being trans. He writes:
“I was told that the Chi Phi Nationals had informed the chapter that I cannot be initiated because my legal documents say I am female.“
Unfortunately, the press release from Chi Phi states “membership eligibility to include any male as defined by valid lagal documentation”.
Sadly, they do not support self determination and Byan Bishop is still not allowed to join making this another case of too little too late.
Transgender men will now be accepted into one of America’s oldest fraternities
Transgender men looking to join a fraternity may now join any chapter of Chi Phi, one of America's most well-known Greek-life organizations. The body declared that anyone who is legally recognized as male is eligible for membership, regardless of gender at birth. But despite this progressive step, there’s another issue that still remains.
