Theres this moment in Gelboys where Chian realizes that maybe he's not the nice guy he thinks he is ? The whole episode till this point revolves around how he is in love with Bua and is heartbroken by every interaction they have. He spends his days trying to be exactly what Bua wants while simultaneously being nothing like he actually is. In his head, he is the long suffering hero of a beautiful Romance.
And yet, in this moment , he's made to face up to the reality of his actions. That he's not the patient hero of a romance novel but a scared lonely boy who is using someone elses affection for his own edification.
His friends dont allow him the oppurtunity to luxuriate in his victim complex. Cause he's not one. He uses Fourmod just like Bua uses him : to prop up his self esteem irrespective of the hurt he may cause.
Its an unpleasant thing : to account for all your wrongs when you've sold yourself the narrative of your innocence. Its a good thing though that he has friends who show him who he is ; even when he's unwilling to see it.
