I do not understand why ppl choose to not tell me the truth

Even through text. Not even to my face. Like, I’m quiet & polite, nice to a fault, Kind of a doormat, But is there some reputation that precedes me that I don’t know? Like what do they think will happen? Am I known to beat ppl up? Did I ever stab someone for telling the truth? Did I ever just start screaming at someone I disagreed with?!

How am I intimidating? A friend back in 2009 wouldn’t end our friendship over text.
