MARK YOUR CALENDERS: On September 17th, celebrated Hong Kong cartoonist Chihoi will be speaking at the New York Comics & Picture-story Symposium, hosted by Jason @jasonli and Orion of Paradise Systems. We recently posted about the new anthology of his work out from nos:books @nosbooks, which is beautiful, haunting, and quietly hilarious. We are thrilled to have this opportunity, while he is in town for NYABF, to discuss his work!

智海《夢的書 (二)》為2013年《夢的書》之續編。智海說他再也不買關於書的書了，但他畫那些幻想的書，看到書封就好像看完一本。其他珍藏已久的、買不起的、或是捨不得借給人的，對他來說的經典，一筆一畫畫出來就好像得到了，雖然一本不厚，但是靈體卻很重。

Dream Books II is the second volume of Chihoi’s Dream Book back in 2013. Chihoi says he won't buy any more books about books. But as he draws those covers of his dream books, it's like he has already read them. Those books that he collects, and those that he cannot afford, and those that he don't want to lend to friends, and those that are classics to him, he portraits them one by one as if you can have them. Dream Books II still looks thin and light as before, but its soul is heavy indeed.

Born in 1977, Chihoi has been drawing since he was a child. In 1999 he graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a degree in Food and Nutritional Sciences. A self-taught artist, Chihoi has released comics, illustrations, and published stories in the local press since 1996. His work has appeared in various international anthologies.
