Hens usually lay less in winter. It's directly dependant upon light: shorter days bring fewer eggs. But we're in New Hampshire and in the dead of winter, they were getting about 6 hours of light, which is awful. So we put a light in the coop so they could have a couple hours extra light. The light goes out at 7pm, so they're still getting lots of rest time.
They go inside as soon as it gets dark outside and I like to imagine them inside with the light on, gossiping and playing pinochle.
Anyway. They're laying so many eggs. Today they laid fifteen (15). That means all but four laid an egg.
