Hmm..
So here's my take on how BF ended up in the cartiadge!!
Roxanne (MM) had sold the cartiadge after divorcing Luis (DD)... She couldn't handle losing her child. And of course, it so happened that Roxanne sold it to BF's parents.
They had given the cartiadge to BF as a "Gift". BF was of course excited because they didn't usually give him gifts. (They unfortunately don't give a FUCK about this poor boy in this au.)
BF ran upstairs to play the game
Shockingly, since he mainly just played games (specifically games like STH and Mario) to pass time. So he got decently far before he lost a life.
TV turned into static, then turned off, M's hand grabbed BF and BF screamed before getting dragged into the game dropping the controller in the cartiadge.

Crush of GF (First it was a childhood crush then as they grew up, it became true love *like you said I think!*)
(I know we talked about dis--) I imagine Kid BF instantly wrapping himself around Mr. L, I mean he is as tall as his father!
Mr. L gave him the mic plush after There was a night where Child BF ended up missing for a few hours (There was a thunderstorm and I heard BF is scared of lightning!). It plays music so at least Kid BF is less scared during thunderstorms
Chipped tooth-- he lost it before the cartiadge.
Random thing I thought of for AU
(I imagine Child BF didn't have an ACTUAL adult to care about him before the cartiadge. And I mean genuinely care about if he was safe.)
(Also before Mr. L became- YK- BF's foster parent!)

Child BF: *Beep!*
[ IHY Mario notices Child BF getting close to a edge ]

[ Child BF goes to reach for the butterfly which is going over the edge but IHY Mario grabs him before he falls over ]

IHY Mario: That was WAY too close...

[ BF's Mother and Father hear him but ignore him ]

[ Child BF grabs his Mom's arm sleeve and tugs a few times. ]
BF's Mother on a call: ---- Hey, One moment please!
[ BF's Mother turns to Child BF ]
BF's Mother: Can you just leave me alone for one minute?!- you are always so ATTACHED! I need personal space for once . Go play or something.
Child BF: *...Beep....*
[ BF's Mother goes back on the phone while Child BF just walks away upset ]

[ Mr. L notices that Child BF/Chord has a picture and Child BF/Chord shows the picture, it's a simple doodle of Mr. L and something about him being his Papa. ]

[ Mr. L sighs and hesitates ]

[ Mr. L hands Child BF/Chord to IHY Mario ]
Child BF/Chord: *Beeep!! Bep!! Beep!! Bop!!*
IHY Mario: Looks like me holding him put him back in a good mood! Or at least a better mood!
Mr. L: Yea yeah....
[ Child BF/Chord eventually reaches back for Mr. L which Mr. L takes Child BF/Chord. ]
Mr. L: *...*
[ Mr. L slightly tightens his grip on Child BF/Chord and IHY Mario kind of notices this . ]
IHY Mario: Are you doing zones in order??-
Mr. L: Yeah.
Coronation Peach: So I assume he has met M?
Mr. L: Well... No.
Coronation Peach: What are you doing? Going backwards?
Mr. L: just nervous. That's all.
[ Wario Apparition didn't even get to say something when he appeared before Child BF/Chord make panicked beeps and waving his arms ]
Wario Apparition: ...I DIDN'T EVEN SAY ANYTHING.

I imagine someone in the Cartiadge gave him the plush, since the cartiadge seemed to notice music generally calmed him down.
This is also what I meant by Separation anxiety:( he just ends up crying.
Now I imagine Child GF just holding Child BF's hand to introduce him to M :D
