Skylar vs Chaos - drabble

yahey! cool face-off scene idea :)

Skylar dropped to his knees as he choked. His lungs drawing the heavy air in ragged breathes between coughs. The strong sensation of fire filling his chest and spreading through his body in waves. 

Chaos stood in front of him, hands out as the crackling energy swirled around him.

"You have survived to see it. That makes you lucky; or stubborn."  Chaos twirled his fingers, dark energy gathering at the tips. "I suppose we'll find out."

"What-" Skylar's sentence broke into a dry cough, sparking like lightning running down him and melting into smoke. "What did you do?"

"I brought my vision to life. Do you see it? Across the horizon and flooding the earth. Raw magic."  Chaos spoke quickly, his arms raised in triumph. The eerie orange lighting reflecting on his glasses.

Skylar shuddered. Breathing slowly he gazed at the quivering landscape.

"You can feel it, can't you. I can see it."

Skylar glanced up to see Chaos looking down at him pleased.

"Skylar, this is magic. This is the universe. All of it together, dying and pulsing."

Skylar closed his eyes and coughed. Shaking and breathing with the burning in his chest. 

"You killed them."

"I'm sorry, what?" Chaos blinked.

"You killed them!" Skylar pushed himself up on to his feet. "Everyone!"

"No. They just couldn't survive."

"You knew this would happen and you killed every living thing but yourself!"

"I'll make new life. One that can live with magic."

"New?! New-" Skylar clenched his fists. "This is my home! My family. You killed my family!"

"I'm going to make a better one. They only died because they weren't good enough of a life. When I remake all this, they'll be a family for you. I'll show you, my child." Chaos explained patiently, almost dismissive.

"Who gave you the power to choose whose life is better worth living." Skylar stood in front of him, feet placed apart in a firm stance. His gaze stubborn.

Chaos paused a moment, silent as he considered. "I can make life. I can take it."

"Funny. 'Cause I'm still breathing. So I guess that's embarrassing for you." Skylar smirked.
