The Heartbreaking Reason You Should Never Leave A Baby Alone With A Charging Phone
We’re connected to our phones 24/7.
In a lot of ways, this is positive. We have the ability to be more informed and engaged with the world and with each other. There are negatives, though, and part of the spread of technology is the spread of electricity consumption and the use of dangerous cords.
When one woman in Kazakhstan fell asleep next to her baby, who was playing with her smartphone, tragedy struck.

Doctors believe the baby chewed on the phone’s charging cable, which caused the wires to become exposed.

Six-Week-Old Baby Dies After Falling Down Elevator Shaft

New mom Aberaqed Al-Rabah was waiting for the elevator on the 23rd floor of her apartment building in Coney Island when the doors opened.
Naturally, she pushed her stroller forward before realizing the elevator had not arrived. Her six-week-old baby plummeted down the shaft to her death.
Building residents say the elevator was regularly out of service and that the landlords did not respond to repeated requests for repairs. ABC Eyewitness News reports that the Sea Rise apartment building had countless lift issues over the last 15 years, with the New York Daily News adding that number was as high as 20 complaints since January 2015.
We hope this tragedy will improve safety and building conditions to avoid any more unnecessary deaths.
Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased in this time of grief.

He Was Convicted Of Killing His Young Son, But He'll Only Spend 10 Years Behind Bars
Prosecutors either need to know the motive of a killer or present a credible theory.
David Creato Jr. had a 17-year-old girlfriend who was away at college, and he was afraid she was going to leave him. She had already expressed an interest in him giving up custody of his three-year-old son Brandon and said she didn’t want to be around him.
When Brandon was found dead in the woods, police honed in on Creato Jr. as the suspect. The motive seems unbelievable to any rational person, but as is often the case, they say he killed for love. Now, after a long and convoluted trial, Creato Jr. will finally spend time behind bars.
Brandon was found dead in the woods near his home, deprived of oxygen. His father said he’d somehow wandered off on his own, though his clean white socks seemed to indicate otherwise.

When indicted for murder, Creato Jr.’s first trial ended in a hung jury. The evidence against him was entirely circumstantial, making it a hard case to convict. His second trial was supposed to begin in September, but now he’s pled guilty to aggravated manslaughter.

The plea deal means Creato Jr. will be sentenced to 10 years in prison, and he will become eligible for parole after eight and a half. Learn more about this heartbreaking case below.

His Stepdaughter Interrupted His Nap. How He Retaliated Is Absolutely Disgusting.
One of the things you need to know about having kids is that they do things at inconvenient times.
Sometimes you’re just trying to rest after a hard day and they come barging in. It’s just part of the deal when it comes to parenting. For one sweet little girl who woke her stepfather up from a nap, those regular childhood behaviors ended in tragedy. Luna Younger woke her stepfather up because she was hungry, but what he did to her in response is unthinkable.
Luna, just five years old, came into the room where her stepfather Thomas McClellan was napping and insisted on her father giving her something to eat.

He told her “it wasn’t dinner time,” and attempted to go back to sleep. When she wouldn’t leave the room, he says he “snapped” and stabbed her five times. Luna’s mother, Victoria King, was at work.

McClellan then wrapped her body in blankets and doused it in vodka before setting it on fire outside the house. Luna’s body was found by firefighters responding to the home.

This Boy Didn't Know The Gun Was Loaded. That's When A Simple Game Turned Deadly.
So many people remember playing games like “cops and robbers” when they were little.
For many children, this kind of wholesome fun provides a good alternative to sitting on the couch or playing video games. Depending on the child’s age and how hot it is outside, it can even be fun to incorporate toys like water guns into the experience. But it should go without saying that children should never have access to real firearms. That’s what happened to one family, and now one of their children is gone.
According to CNN, a 10-year-old boy was playing “cops and robbers” with his 14-year-old brother and another child when the younger one picked up a rifle in the home.

Mom Sues Hospital After Rolling Over And Seeing Something Heartbreaking In Her Bed
In August 2012, Monica Thompson gave birth to her first and only child, a baby boy named Jacob Daniel Thompson.
Tragically, she only got to be with him for 10 short days before he passed away. Though it’s been five years since he died, she hasn’t been able to find closure after losing her newborn. That’s because she believes his death could have been prevented by the nurses who were supposed to take care of him. Now Thompson’s suing Portland Adventist Medical Center in Oregon, citing negligence in causing “foreseeable harm” to Jacob and “negligent infliction of emotional distress” to her by causing the child’s death.
On August 5, 2012, nurses took Jacob to a nursery and gave Thompson narcotic painkillers and sleep aids so she could get some sleep before being released from the hospital.

That night, a nurse brought Jacob back to the room and left him unattended with his sleeping mother for breastfeeding. An hour later, Thompson woke up feeling “drowsy and groggy” and found Jacob unresponsive in her arms.

“She called for a nurse while she tried to get him to respond,” the suit states. “Mrs. Thompson tried to stimulate her son’s suckling reflexes without success. She touched his eyes and got no response. She poked him and talked to him with no reaction. When no nurse came to help, Mrs. Thompson carried her son to the hallway and frantically yelled for help.”

He Abused Their Baby Boy Until He Died, And The Mother Did Nothing To Stop It
Baby Jaxson was barely nine weeks old when he passed away at the Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, in November 2016.
The little boy hadn’t been sick, nor was he battling a deadly disease. What really happened to him is much more disturbing, especially because his death was caused by the people who were supposed to love and protect him the most. Though then 19-year-old Robert James Burnette and 20-year-old Megan L. Hendricks were his father and mother by definition, their horribly abusive and neglectful actions proved they never should have become parents in the first place.
According to police, little Jaxson suffered from bleeding on the brain and broken bones before he was taken off of life support.

He had other injuries as well — all of which came from violent actions such as being thrown onto a bed and shaken by Burnette.

Court documents also stated that Burnette even shoved his fingers down the infant’s throat to stop him from crying.
