Hello there, I’m very sorry of posting this in fandom tags, but this info is not getting out of Chile and we NEED you all to know.
TW: blood, violence.
There’s more posts about this in #Chile. There’s photos and videos. Please please look it up!
So, after 30 years of governments of different politic sides have done nothing but bully us with ridiculous laws, raises on everything but salaries and stupid excuses over important issues (over even more stuff).
T13: “Whoever that wants to gift flowers this month, flowers have dropped a 3,7%” - The romantic advise of minister Larrain after last digits of IPC. --> [Everything else got really expensive, some people are getting in debt so they can eat everyday, because minimum wage is not enough]
CNN Chile: Minister of Economy and new Metro rate: “Whoever gets up early can be helped with a cheaper fare” --> [People already gets out of their houses at 6am to get back around 10 pm so they can actually provide for their family. You understand that under this circumstances, there’s no much family time]
Radio ADN: President of expert panel of Public Transport: When there’s a raise on bread or tomatoes, you don’t do a protest --> [On protest that started this week]
BioBio Chile: At an interview he indicated that some patients “People don’t go only to se a doctor, but is a social element, of social reunion” --> [On people who gets up 5 am to go to the public health care, only to see a doctor around 3 pm, if they get to that day]
🤮🤮🤮
People in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Chile are protesting because they have no food. The government, instead of immediately sending over help, decided to once again repress them with teargas and rubber pellets. If you have been following the Chilean protests since October 2019, you'd know the very same government is directly responsible for the mutilation of over 500 eyes from their own citizens.
This is happening today May 18 2020, I'll keep you posted
My godmother was 11 when the coup happened: she recalls being in school in the centre of Santiago when suddenly she heard the roar of planes and a explosion so big the classroom windows cracked. The teacher looked grim and they were let out shortly after.
When she arrived home, her older brother was frantically going through all their books which had political propaganda in them, burning them as discretely as he could. "He looked like he was on the verge of a colapse, but smiled at me when he got home and asked me kindly to close all the curtains in the house".
She remembers the screams in the middle of the night- a couple of twins who were her neighbours and university students as well as their dad was taken. They never saw them again.
There are a lot of things she hasn't told me but I notice them anyway. She always hated September 19, when the military would stage a giant parade. She would stay home, with just a candle to accompany her, and I would stay at her side because I loved her and I didn't want her to be alone.
In October under the protests, she couldn't sleep- the army was out at all times and helicopters flew so low we were worried it would crash down the house. I stayed with her for a week - I would protest during the day and I'd come home with her looking pale and crying.
September 11 is a day of rememberance and pain. We will not forget what happened and we will fight for those of us who never came back.
Ni perdón ni olvido.
Okay I'm done caring about gringos today so I'd like you all to know that Chile is pretty close to approving adoption for same-gender parents AND outlawing conversion therapy.
This shit is super important because like, our country is still mostly conservative and foster care fucking sucks, so it's a big deal!! The government is still trying to privilege a 'mother AND father role' so it's important to be loud about this shit before its voted on the senate
WE FUCKING WOOOOOON YALL PINOCHET IS TRULLY DEAD RN
