The flowers of Crinodendron hookerianum 'Ada Hoffmann' (Chile lantern tree) are pink rather than the usual red of the species. This specimen is growing in a container but in a fertile, moist but well-drained, acidic soil it can become a large, evergreen shrub. The plant needs in a sheltered position, in partial shade or in sun but where the roots can be kept cool.

Growing in the shelter of the wall of Cambo Walled Garden, Fife, Scotland, was Chrinodendron hookerianum (Chile lantern tree). This endemic to Chile, needs a fertile, moist but well-drained acid soil with partial shade where the roots can be cool and shaded.
