Let's talk about food. Specifically, food in romance books.
We've got girls who are peckish and only eat salads. We've got mer-girls who either love eating raw fish or steer clear of seafood. We've got girls who don't care and will swallow a hamburger whole. We've got girls who grow their own food and bake their own bread. We've got girls who are addicted to overeating snack foods. What we don't have is realistic GIRL DINNER!
Give me girls who store jars of peanut butter under their beds and eat it with their fingers in the middle of the night like a deranged goblin. Give me girls who go to the fridge and stare at it for ten minutes before pulling out a head of cabbage, old salsa, and a tub of cream cheese. Give me girls who find M&Ms under their kids' car seats and decide "Hey! That's a perfectly filling meal!" Give me girls who go to a restaurant and order three appetizers because they're "hungry" but not "that hungry." Give me romantic interests who range from amused to shocked at this behavior.
Your characters don't always have to eat homecooked meals or visit fancy restaurants. Take them to McDonald's and have them order cookies, a kid's meal with apple slices, a Whopper, and spicy chicken nuggets. Make them mix the ranch and ketchup together because "it's better." I want crazy combos.
Girls are weird. Let their food reflect that. Let it be endearing.
