this bean right here is my bby xiomara aka xo.( im jane the virgin trash send help ) and this is her backstory. sorry this is long, once i started i couldn’t stop !! i hope you enjoy it !!

xiomara vega was born to a young couple in florida, it was a simple hook up and nothing more. during the pregnancy, the parents kept their distance and didn’t speak unless it was about the baby. they had nothing in common with each other. it was tense.

growing up, xo was pushed back and forth between her parents like they were divorced and out trying to do each other in every single thing they did with her. she didn’t understand it but she was a happy child to just spend some time with her family. her father was calmer and her mother was tenser.

when she turned 2, her mom married for the first time but it didn’t last very long. when she turned 5, she got remarried but found out her husband was cheating on her. when xo was 13, her mother remarried some rich man and her mom got sucked into the life of the rich life. her mother ended up have two more daughters and a son with the man.

xo felt left out of the family, she didn’t fit in with them since she was kinder, softer, a heart of gold. she would help out animals that she would find or the elderly when she had the chance. her siblings found her weird for it. xiomara overheard one night when she while staying with her mom that she didn’t fit their family’s picture from her stepfather. so she packed her things and went back to her dad’s house the same night. the teen was hurt and upset since her mother saw her and didn’t come after her, she just let her go and acted like nothing happened.

xo has a strong relationship with her dad but when he tried to talk to her about how things were at her mom’s, she shut down. the girl would smile and say they were perfect. she was very secretive with her feelings, she kept them to herself. the two always did fun things together like go to theme parks, camping, fishing, going to the beach. he kept her grounded and always made a lesson out of everything, something she took to heart at times. 

while in high school xo had a bit of her rebel phase, she started to smoke ( something she still does a lot ) and drink. she would be out late and hanging out with the wrong crowds, she came out with tattoos or she would stay at her girlfriends/boyfriends house or whoever she was seeing that month. she was only doing the things she was doing because she wanted her mom to care but she never showed up for her. she only got a scoff, a shaking head, and yelled at because she was ruining the family’s rep.

xo decided to fully live with her dad after a long talk and she sort of cleaned up her act, age 17. not too much. she still loves to party, smoke and drink. the two moved to cape haze, maine. her mother didn’t fight on it, she let her go. although she says different.

after high school, the teen knew the one thing she loved to do was helping people who needed it. she went to school to become a nurse, she loves it. she was very well known in the hospital. her smile is wide, she gave everyone the same respect that they give her.  

xiomara knows she could do more so when she isn’t at work, she is studying and going back to school to become a midwife to the expecting moms in cape hazel.

Brianna Thorne’s life is a bit messy, but really she wouldn’t have it any other way. She was born into a life of privilege that could have easily soured her personality. But somehow despite her father’s old-money name and her mother’s social-climbing obsession, Brie managed to turn out kind and loyal rather than shrewd and pretentious. Nevertheless, she worked hard to try and earn the favor of her parents and peers for many years. But she was never meant to be just a Manhattan socialite, and it took a failed wedding and an accidental pregnancy for that to actually sink in.

Brie had known since she was sixteen years old that she was going to marry Trent Carrington III. Their families were closer than close, and it was practically arranged. Though they started dating on their own in high school, it was something both families pushed them to pursue even when Brie failed to feel any kind of spark between them. But still, she was loyal and hated the idea of disappointing her family. So at twenty-four years old, she accepted his proposal. But two weeks before the wedding she walked in on him in a compromising position with her then Maid of Honor and now ex-best friend. 

Of course, she called off the wedding, but not before she wound up drunk in a bar wearing her wedding dress and confessing the whole sordid tale to anyone who would listen. Including her thousand or so followers on Instagram. That night, however, would lead to the best mistake she ever made. A one night stand with a man whose name she can’t even remember, but eyes she’ll never forget. Mostly because those eyes stare up at her every day from the love of her life, her four-year-old son Noah Thorne. After her colossal self-destruction, Brie ran away in order to “find herself”. It was Cape Hazel that started the process of healing her. It had always been one of her favorite places in the world. Her family had summered there for one year and it had never left her heart. So when she discovered she was pregnant in the place she loved so much, she decided to never go back to the shallow life she had in Manhattan. 

Her choices led to her parents cutting her off completely, but as much as it hurt there was no going back for her. They dangled her trust fund over her head in hopes it would bring her back into the fold, but she chose to lead a simpler life. Luckily she had some money from a separate trust left by her grandfather that her parents couldn’t control, but it was nowhere near the amount that she’d have gotten from her parents. Nevertheless money wasn’t important to Brie. The life she wanted to build in Cape Hazel was. So she used some of it to buy a modest little cottage as using some to put her business degree to work by buying up a quaint little coffee shop that she’d fallen in love with. She’s very hands-on when it comes to the shop and has no problem playing barista when necessary. But of course her favorite job is taking care of her son. She even made a special playroom in the back of her shop’s new location where she can keep an eye on him rather than drop him off at daycare. 

BASICALLY: This goofball of a human being has been here for about five years now after shunning her life in Manhattan. She bought the coffee shop after moving to Cape Hazel because she wanted to make an honest living, and she was already a coffee-aholic so might as well do what you love right? She has a four-year-old son named Noah that was the product of a one night stand whom she loves more than anything in the entire world. She’s super friendly and easily makes friends with anyone who is willing to tolerate her chatty albeit awkward nature. Which is to say not a lot lmao. She’s an acquired taste basically. But even with people who instantly dislike her she never gives up trying to be friendly. She’s the kind of person you absolutely want in your corner when push comes to shove. Even if it’s just to hand you a coffee and a bagel for refueling.       

A little tidbit for anyone curious, she’s loosely inspired by Lorelai Gilmore and I also get some feels regarding the song “Rockabye” by The Mayries (but it’s not an exact match lol).

Sophia was born in Cape Hazel to two successful people.

When she was three years old her mother got cancer, and became terminally ill.

When the woman was five her mother passed away. She doesn’t remember much of what happened. But it was difficult for her father, and he was never the same. 

She grew up with a single father, and thus felt at odds with herself without a female role model.

 Sophia has always been tough. When she was younger it was hard for her to make friends in school. 

She always alienated herself with her tough exterior and barrier. In reality it was hiding an insecurity. 

Sophia is smart, hyper driven and strong. She is a perfectionist and puts a lot of pressure on herself. She wants to be the best she can be and won’t stop at nothing. She has difficulty slowing down and enjoying what is in front of her already. 

She just needs to learn to allow people to see her soft side as well and embrace interpersonal relationships

ayoo, it’s breezy here, i live in the cst, i’m eighteen (nineteen as of tomorrow – the 6th). this is my boy saint carmichael, he’s twenty and a child care worker, like kid’s are his passion and he just has this click with them. 

Saint Carmichael, a boy that wanted to do his best to please everyone — specifically his father — and had a heart of gold. It started in middle school, his father wanted him to pick up wrestling. Being the obedient son that he was, he did it, even if that wasn’t his passion. His father allowed him to join choir, no matter how much he was against it. Over the next two years he would forbid Saint from ever doing something musically wise. Naive 15-year-old Saint didn’t protest, but simply nod his head and cry into his pillow that night. Saint hoped that highschool would help him become more independent, better himself, and hopefully help him stand for himself when it came to his dreams with his Dad. Oh, it helped with that problem, but added on many more. He didn’t stop wrestling until sophmore year, somewhat forced to stop because of an injury. He then used the opportunity to finally put his foot down about his musical passion. He’d never think he and his father would take the turn they did in their relationship. 

His father became bitter with him, simply becoming smug whenever he would see Saint come home, evidence of a fight at school on his face. After quitting wrestling, many male peers sought out to annoy Saint. Saint seemed vulnerable to them because of the injury, and he became so depressed about he and his father’s dynamics, he’d let people say whatever and a shrug with a “I don’t care” following. It’d take someone crossing the line to get Saint to punch them in the face. Many played on Saint’s easy temperament, school becoming a battleground daily. 

 There was a girl, Saint thought they’d be highschool sweethearts, daydreaming of a future with her. But, a year later (his junior year), what did she do? Fuck him over, making him swear off love. A few months later, there was a new kid that Saint couldn’t keep his eyes off of. Saint knew he’d be a different one after giving the boy a school tour. “I heard you fought a lot, have a pretty bad. reputation..” “Trust me it’s not like i want to…I’m pretty convinced the universe hates me….” Saint could already guess the boy was going to make up his mind to avoid him, but he was surprised when he heard, “Don’t worry, I don’t…Come on, let’s sit together at lunch.” Yeah, he was a keeper. Saint’s home life got worse though in Senior year, making him bitter and even more angry due to frustration with the situation. 

Saint purposefully faded apart in the relationship because that was one thing he couldn’t stand to see ruined, “What do you mean you want to ‘take a break’ after graduating, Saint? For fucks sake, we even agreed to go to the same college and you do this?” Saint leaned against his car, a heavy sigh accompanying a hand rubbing against his face, “I know what we fucking said, but I don’t think it’ll be good for us to continue on. Like, go find someone else, someone better than me.” “It’s not that easy Saint…” “Jesus, I don’t give a fuck how it is, this just gotta end, I can’t.” And with that being said, Saint left, no explanation of the sudden action given, no sign of someone he could say had his heart afterwards or after graduation. 

Saint eventually started playing emotional games with people, reeling them in with promises and poetic words that later meant nothing once they gave it up. They’d expect another date being planned but to only have their calls rejected and texts unanswered until they eventually forgot about Saint. Saint came to Acadia to get on the right path for a music career, but he can’t help but get pulled into drama.

parents ignored him, but had his baby brother when finn was seventeen. they doted on his baby brother and finn is a little jelly of that.

he went to college (in louisiana, which he hated) for archaeology after realizing he was a big nerd for history.

eventually became the indiana jones of the early 2000s. traveled all over the world, spoke a few different languages enough to get around, found some sweet artifacts, did some papers and seminars.

met a pretty girl on one of his research teams and said, “yo, let’s get married” after being together for a few months.

Background (cancer tw, death tw)

Peter was born as the only Deaf person in a family of hearing people. From an early age, his parents disagreed on how to raise him. His mother wanted to give him a Cochlear implant and try to make him pass as hearing, while his father thought that Peter should be the one to make any decisions about getting a Cochlear implant later in life, wanting to raise him to be proud of who he was, rather than ashamed. They compromised; Peter was sent to a Deaf school, but went to speech therapy four times a week in order to learn how to speak and read lips. His mom knew very little sign language, trying to encourage him to speak more; all this did, however, was drive Peter away from her and towards his dad.

He was raised in New York City, where both of his parents were prominent attorneys. While he was able to go to a Deaf school, he was often bullied outside of school, and grew to rely on his older brother to protect him.

His family had a vacation home on the cape, so he and his brother spent a large part of their childhoods there.

When Peter was 14, his father was diagnosed with brain cancer and died less than a year later. Peter fell into a deep depression for years after. After his father’s death, they stopped going to the cape and eventually sold their house there.

Four years later, Peter went to university and never looked back. He had never had a good relationship with his mother, and it was as if their lives were entirely separate. His brother had been in college for two years, and the two years he spent alone with his mother were the loneliest years of his life.

After college, he felt lost and decided, on a whim, to return to the cape, where he had so many incredible memories from childhood. It was the place where he was always the happiest, so he moved back as soon as he graduated and opened a flower shop.

Peter can speak, but prefers not to. He usually reads lips or speaks to communicate with someone who doesn’t know sign language.

Diana couldn't remember a time during her childhood when everybody was happy. She was conceived and born under fairly normal circumstances, with a mother, father, and older sister to love, but she was barely two years old when things began to change, and her sister, Andrea, fell sick. From then on, everything was different, and the only life Diana has ever known has been a blur of hospital trips, disrupted schooling, and worry for Andrea. 

As the girls became teenagers, Diana's parents became stricter. It wasn't fair, but with Andrea sick, the Alveres' didn't want their younger daughter to flaunt the freedoms their firstborn would never have. Diana missed out on everything, from trips to the mall to prom night, but was always understanding of her situation, and rarely complained.

Diana was 17 when she donated a kidney to her sister. From then on, the sisters managed to reach some degree of normalcy. Andrea's health improved, and  with the stress and worry lifted slightly, Diana was able to go to college. She had decided from an early age she wanted to be a doctor. Having grown up around hospitals, it was pretty much all she knew. 

At college, Diana was able to experience the freedom she never knew. However, coming out of her shell isn't the easiest of tasks. Despite being friendly, spirited and loving, she is cautious when it comes to opening up to others, and doesn't trust easily. She's somewhat of a closed book, preferring to keep her affairs private, but going out of her way to try and help others, sometimes to the point of meddling. However, she can be overemotional, and doesn't take criticism or rudeness well. 

Diana graduated medical school with flying colours, and was offered a residency near Cape Hazel in the immunology department. She likes living in the cape, with the charm of the town and the pull of the beach providing a welcome distraction from the hospital  when she needs it.
