Err... this will probably take a while, so I'll try to summarize.

Chiron is a human that lives on Kepler-37B, nicknamed "Small Planet" as it's the tiniest planet located within the Omicron Grid of the Spiral Galaxy. The years go by much faster on Small Planet than they do on Earth, which is why Chiron is so "old" but looks young. In Earth years, he'd be somewhere between the ages of 25-29.

Chiron was an only child, born and raised on Small Planet. His parents were former social workers for the Galactic Federation, but defected for unknown reasons. They moved to Small Planet and built the Event Horizon Bed and Breakfast from the ground up, complete with its own self-sustaining energy systems. But when he was a child, they suddenly disappeared one day and left him behind. That was the last he ever saw of them. Since then, he's been running the B&B on his own.

His property is pretty large; there's an orchard with exotic fruit trees, a vegetable garden, a freshwater lake in the backyard, and the house itself which is two stories high. He has access to the internet and intergalactic cable and has a vast library of books he's collected over the years.

But because Small Planet is so far off the normal travel routes, and because there's not much to do or see there, visitors are quite rare. There are no town, cities, villages, or other people. It's a desolate place in a forgotten corner of the universe. At the point in the story where he meets Star, she's the first person who's come to Small Planet in years.

Chiron is sweet and charming. He's a good listener, a great cook, and an even better host. He also tends to yap a LOT, but mostly because he's so psyched to speak to someone face to face instead of online like he usually does. But he's also very lonely, and very desperate for companionship. Because of this, he has developed codependent tendencies and an anxious attachment style. He spent many lonely years crafting a confident, charming, and prince-like persona in an attempt to be more likable, masking his insecurities and fears behind humor. Even the clothes and accessories he wears are part of his act. (He thinks wearing more romantic clothing and jewelry will make him appear more desirable)

He tends to overwhelm his guests by fussing over them too much, but he only does that because he really, really wants someone to stay with him.

Forever.

He's also a bit yandere-adjacent, but... we'll save that explanation for another time.

okay this is gonna be a long yap sorry in advance

all of my guys' names are tied to their astrological symbolism along with certain cards in the tarot's major arcana.

venus got her name because she is star's first love, who she met on a honeymoon planet called eros. her tarot card is "the lovers" as she represents star's experimentation with sexuality during her fool's journey. in our solar system, venus is called the "planet of love" and is the only celestial body named after a feminine figure. venus is a femme like star, they are similar in many ways and act both as twins and reflections of one another, which is another way to interpret the lovers card in tarot. also, the roman goddess venus (aphrodite in greek) was associated with water, and venus represents the element of water that appears in the world tarot card later. star and venus often have romantic moments near water, such as when they bathed in the waterfalls together and had their first kiss on a beach.

mars... i didnt have a name for them at first. originally they were just m-1013, their factory name. i gave them the "m" as a tribute to someone who is very important to me and partially inspired the character. 1013 is a number that keeps popping up randomly in my life lol so i use it in a lot of different places. but as m-1013 evolved i decided to name her mars. he represents the fire element in the world card. mars is associated with the god of war, and in the story they are the one who is the catalyst for the cyborg rebellion aka "the war against tech". the symbol for planet mars is what's considered the sign for male/men, so it's also a callout to the fact that mars is trans. their tarot card is "justice".

chiron is the name of a small comet/asteroid, and in astrology is the planet that represents "the wounded healer". in our natal charts, chiron shows us our deepest insecurities, emotional wounds, and trauma. chiron has an intense fear of abandonment, which has caused him to develop extreme codependency on others to the point where he will put someone else's needs above his own, even at the cost of his physical and mental health. this is because he is deeply insecure due to being abandoned as a child and blaming himself for not being good enough. his tarot card is the devil, however, he isn't "evil" or the actual devil itself. the devil card symbolizes attachment to material desires which prevent us from growing and evolving. chiron's attachment is to his home planet, whereas star's attachment is to chiron himself. air is chiron's associated element, which represents his tendency to overthink and live in his head. his name also is a nod to his secret identity but i will not say more than that ;)

jupiter was given his name for a few different reasons. the roman god jupiter ("zeus" in greek) was the ruler of the sky and was responsible for guarding laws, social orders, and treaties. in astrology, the planet jupiter is associated with philosophy, growth, and enlightenment. jupiter is the leader of a small, self-sustaining community that he built from the ground up after a horrible tragedy befell his home planet. he accepts everyone in the crew no matter who they are or where they came from, essentially adopting imto his family those who have been thrown away. the people look to him for protection and guidance, showing unwavering loyalty for their leader. fun fact: planet jupiter has 101 moons, and all of jupiter's crew members are named after them :) his closest friends io, callisto, and europa are named after jupiter's closest moons too :) i thought it was fitting. his element is earth, as he is the most grounded and mature of all the star lovers. the tarot card for him is "the star", which symbolizes hope after great pain and loss. in this part of the story, star has experienced tremendous heartbreak to the point where she almost gave up on life. jupiter finds star at her lowest and loves her so gently that it restores her hope. in turn, she softens his heart and helps him work through his own trauma. i'm leaving it up to readers to decide who the actual "star" is.

star was originally named something completely different, but i had to change it for various reasons lolol. however her name is very important... yes she is a starling named star, but in her language, her name is the original word for the first star that ever came into existence. it's considered very special and sacred, however it just sounds like a normal word in human language. unfortunately i can't say anymore than that or else she'll hurt me 🤐
