A picture of my chirotherium trackway site. Everything in front of the truck has been excavated. The truck is on the rocks of the lowest track layer. Behind the truck some of the second upper track layer is uncovered but not excavated. The leading edge of each layer goes from solid rock to a section of these loose individual tracks which I call Rex chunks - separate tracks from Chirotherium rex. The time period between the two layers could range from a couple hundred to maybe a thousand years, so very close in time.

This is a tiny chirothere pes (rear) footprint. 240 mya. Middle Triassic.

These are ripples in the sand or mud under water. The bottom two show some invertebrate traces and some cracking from mud drying. Middle Triassic. 240 mya

Chirotherium left rear track in red. Two partial rotodactylus tracks in blue. 240 million years old. The fifth digit on the chirotherium looks like thumb but is not actually a thumb. It is on the outside of the track. The rotodactylus has five toes but but frequently only three show up in tracks. Middle Triassic. Moenkopi Formation.
